I, of course, have these ready to go at a moment's notice, ha, ha...Anne Helm as seen in The Lieutenant, To Kill A Man...European theatrical edition! Included in Warner Archive's DVD release of Gary Lockwood's The Lieutenant...now, if I can just get rid of Lockwood (doesn't he have a Vietnam war to fight?), I can have her to myself...as she artfully disrobes and turns some groovy platters in her happenin' pad...

I admire your wonderful screen caps, Neal, as I know how much time and meticulous care it takes to assemble these many screen caps, much appreciated! I second Jeff's emotion as to our appreciation for 'Sweet Thing'.

But who in their right mind would leave this lovely and tender girl (calculating and mercenary as she is) in the wardship of a sidewinder like Jack Warden?, My God! Anne Helm, in 3 episodes of Route 66, is among my all-time favorite 'road girls'...I love the time and place of this episode, as I am, as always, a captive to nostalgia...a very hot and sweaty Indio California, as the filthy and forgotten jerkwater ville it was way back when...California, they've ruined the joint!

Another favorite 'road girl' of mine that you've already featured is the exotic Zohra Lampert of Layout at Glen Canyon...she was talented too, winning an Emmy in 1975 for her performance in Kojak season two's Queen of the Gypsies...she made quite an entrance, and an impression, in The Defenders season one episode, The Prowler, from whence I took these screen caps...

I wish Layout at Glen Canyon looked this good...watchable PQ as it is, it's such an spectacular and well staged episode...historic too, as they capture the massive dam project at about half-way into it's construction. Those huge explosions look positively dangerous for the stunt stand-in to evade safely...Another wild concept for an episode, conjured up in the minds of Sterling Silliphant, Herbert B. Leonard, Howard Rodman, Sam Manners and Elliot Silverstein...I'd love to hear the back story of how this episode came to be...we need a high quality 'making of' book for Route 66...

Ah, Anne Helm...a "Sweet Thing" indeed!
For sure Jeff!
I've probably seen every episode of Route 66 at least two or three times, but the two episodes that stand indelibly out to me are The Clover Throne and A Lance of Straw. Both Anne Helm and Janice Rule had an unmistakable and palpable allure that's just mesmerizing.

You could edit the two-parter Fly Away Home seamlessly into a feature length movie!
I actually went back and forth whether or not to post this as 1 combined episode with my average number of screen caps but then I decided if the creators thought the story warranted 2 episodes I would present it that way. Yes it would have made a really good combined TV-Movie. Doesn't appear that networks did that back then if I recall correctly?

No question about it...there were bunches of cuties featured on this show. But c'mon!...Anne Helm and Janice Rule!!
You really love those two don't you! But I wonder if Ann announced whether or she was going to ... ahh, forget it. :)

Route 66 Quiz:

So no one has any ideas? Really? Ok, Hint: 2. You can clearly see something missing in one of the screen caps in Fly Away Home Part 2. Just compare it to the Part 1 screen caps. It couldn't be just me that's so observant.
