Just a heads up...

THE CLOSER returns to TNT for a second season Monday night, the 12th (9 PM Eastern). The season premiere will be broadcast commercial-free (at least the first showing). Repeats at 11:00 PM Monday night, and then again at midnight on the 14th. (That same schedule applies to the following week's ep, so that must be the pattern for this season.)

ALSO...TNT is airing a marathon on Sunday (the 11th), 10 AM thru 7 PM (Eastern) which will re-cap most of the first season, in case anybody needs to catch up or get on board.

And, of course, the first season is also now available on DVD, and I highly recommend it...but we all know I'm a bit biased. :)

I have enjoyed this show, but Kyra Sedgwick's southern accent really bothers me. She reminds me of Dustin Hoffman when he was Tootsie.

My wife's a Southerner, and she was shocked to learn that Kyra Sedgwick wasn't. She was convinced that Sedgwick's accent was genuine.

Last night's episode was not among the series' best, but it did have its highlights including the takedown of the valet, the "Oh Lord, no" answer to the question about telling Brenda's father, and the display of a little more character depth than the writers usually give us for Captain Taylor.

Regards,

I can't say I'm very happy with TPTB decision to hold back the season finale until December.

This fine program continues to set the standard. Last night was particularly heartbreaking and horrifying at the same time, with some of the best acting yet. The bodies of a Japanese woman and her 4-year-old daughter are found in Los Angeles harbor, tied together and weighted down. The husband/father has a rock solid alibi, and for a long time, I had no idea how this one was going to go. No subplot this week -- just a tight focus on the case at hand.

One fun moment - Brenda in bed with a bowl of ice cream fuming at the way the case turned out, while her boyfriend is trying to get to sleep...

I am not a fan of crime investigation shows, but this one rises above all the rest. Kyra really sells this show, she is fantastic. She has crafted a really fine character, unlike many of the other crime shows with their generic casts. I tune in every week and hope this show lasts for years to come.

Tonight's episode was fantastic, though I think the porn industry ep was the best of the season so far.

I enjoyed last night's episode except for the cliche garage revenge murder. I felt a stronger ending was when Brenda informed the mother that there wasn't sufficient evidence to make a case. Fade to black.
