Well having a 61 year old watch it and like it is a good thing.

Shows that hit the mainstream and show gays in a positve light, I think, help break down the walls ...
Perhaps the Pope and Bush should be watching.

They are also on the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week. I guess they have 4 days to make over the person and house which makes more sense. I thought it was just one day.

My advice for the fab 5 and Leno, first off, is to cut that hair.

The best line of the show so far in the "Great Neck Unibrow" episode from (who else?) Carson:

"Everyone loves a pearl necklace."

I wonder if Bravo's practices and standards caught that one and let it go or whether they missed it entirely.

with carson, i suspect those guys are on high-alert. that guy is a walking tome of innuendos.

i would bet your paycheck that they caught it and let it go. :)

I've loved home improvement shows since I was a kid, but I have to say this show is awesome. What makes it stand above the other reality makeover shows is that the Fab 5 aren't just creating some fantasy space they like or using it as an outlet to execute their ideas. (That's why I really can't get into shows like Trading Spaces.) You truly get a sense that they care about upgrading – not changing – their subject. This is rare. In the end you can tell that the straight guys feel like what they're wearing is not a costume, their house is not a set, and, most importantly, they're not some character being exploited for the sake of entertainment.
I agree. That's one of the reasons I like the show. For example, in the episode with the city-cowboy proposing to his girlfriend he had a decent home theater. However they didn't really do anything to it. It seems like most of the designer freaks on "Trading Places" would have thrown it out first.

The living spaces they design look like something a real person would have.

RE Pearl Necklace

Jessesh get your minds out of the gutter :) I am sure they figured that viewers would take the comment at "face" value :)

I about died when they pushed the plastic lid on the kitchen wall and it STAYED!! For some reason I didn't like the editing as much on this episode but it was still cool.

I still don't get how the wives in these episodes get off blame-free. They live in the house too and should be responsible for 50% of the mess. Plus I'm guessing that the wives did the interior design. And yet the guys get all the blame.:frowning:

When they do those little interviews from their family and friends, I always get frustrated when the wife comes on and says basically, "yeah, he needs a lot of help. He's so clueless and he's such a slob." Who are they to talk?

I, for one, am so glad they made "My Baby Got Back! 10". I thought there were so many unanswered questions at the end of "My Baby Got Back! 9". :)

"Mirror, mirror on the wall..."

Another great ep!

I watched the new episode and was rewatching the "cowboy" one last night. (I've watched most of them more than once! ) That one tip of Kyan's where he says "You don't always have to wash your hair every day -- sometimes it looks better on the 2nd or 3rd day" is so GROSS!!!!!!! Everyone should wash their hair at least once a day! I've known guys where I can be 3 feet away and I can smell that their hair hasn't been washed in a few days.

(Kyan's very cute, though -- he actually could pull off a yellow shirt with those great black pants last night.)

How about when Carson was between the guy's legs and said "how does this look?" Damm too funny!! Jai had some great advice too and it sounds like he can actually sing.

Jai's actually an up and coming Musical Theatre actor. He was singled out in the recently closed off-Broadway musical "Zanna Don't!"

And, yes, he *can* sing. :)

NBC TO PRESENT BRAVO’S ‘QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY’ IN ITS ORIGINAL ONE-HOUR FORMAT ON AUGUST 14 AT 10:00 P.M.

BURBANK, CA - August 6, 2003 – NBC will present a full-hour of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” on August 14 (10-11 p.m. ET) instead of the previously scheduled 30- minute version at 9:30 p.m. (ET), it was announced today by Jeff Zucker, President, NBC Entertainment. Later that night, the “Fab Five” will appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” for the first of two nights, to make over the show and its host.

“We tested the waters with a 30-minute version of ‘Queer Eye’ on NBC a few weeks ago and it worked extremely well as a promotional platform,” said Zucker. “We wanted to offer this exposure again but keep it in its original format so viewers can have a full ‘Queer Eye’ experience.”

The NBC prime time lineup for Thursday, August 14 will be as follows:

8:00 p.m. Friends: The One with The Lottery
8:30 p.m. Scrubs: My Drama Queen
9:00 - 10:00 p.m. Will & Grace: Marry Me a Little, Marry Me a Little More
10:00 - 11:00 p.m. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

The August 14 “Queer Eye” episode will be the series’ fourth, which aired on Bravo on July 29 (9-10 p.m. ET). It features straight guy John Bargeman who is preparing to propose to his girlfriend.

Also on August 14, the Fab Five will appear on “The Tonight Show” (11:35 p.m.-12:35 a.m. ET) to discuss their show and they will return for a second appearance on Friday, August 15 to reveal a “Queer Eye” infused “Tonight Show.”

We'll see if they keep Carson's "working vagina" comment in, or if they'll have to censor that for NBC.

I know this is probably personal preference, but I've had several hair stylists tell me the same thing -- you normally don't have to wash it every day. Now, if you go running or are out in the sun all day (as one might be in Hawaii! ), this might not be a good idea but not washing out the natural oils in your hair does give it more luster & lets it get into a more natural state. That *doesn't* mean you can't rinse it in the shower or condition. I myself wash probably 4-5 times/week and condition otherwise.
