Not likely, I've only seen it in a few instances.

I have had many "Made on Demand" (MOD) movies from WB, Sony, and Fox that came on single layer disks. In most cases, the movies were relatively short and/or it was early in the MOD process before they started using dual layer disks.

As for TV Series, the only time I received single layer disks were when the last few episodes of a season did not warrant a dual layer disk, in that there were half as many episodes left then what would traditionally be needed to fit on a disk.
Also the early days of DVD like when Paramount put Star Trek out in the individual volumes with 2 episodes per disc.

Wait, are they calling it "The Complete Series", because if so, I think I'll buy it and sue because "Bored, She Hung Herself" is missing, like that broad who is suing MGM over the Bond 50 box set because it says it's the complete James Bond but it's missing the original Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again.

Edit:

I feel I needed to add a smilie to convey the proper tone of the post.
You got that right. You can see that on Youtube. If they still have it up?
Not a very good copy.

I took Scott's advice and ordered the repackaged 2021 set from Deep Discount. It arrived today.

I was almost afraid to insert a disc into my optical drive for fear that this would be another counterfeit set consisting of single-layer discs. But it turned out to be a legit set of dual-layer discs! <happy dance>

On a somewhat strange note, I had returned the counterfeit eBay set to the seller, only to find the box on my doorstep, ten days later. Apparently the Postal Service was unable to deliver it to the address supplied by eBay.

I contacted the seller, with "Hey, I'd really like to send this counterfeit set back to you, if you'll just give me a legit mailing address to which to send it."

Nothing. No response. So now I have a set of 72 worthless discs that I don't want. Coasters, anyone?

ADDENDUM - I checked file-creation dates as a means to tell me whether the Season 10 discs were the remastered versions.

Season 9 discs had the same file-creation date (06-09-2010) as the original dvd set, indicating that these discs were simply re-pressings of the originals.

Season 10 discs had a different file-creation date (09-16-2013) than the original set (10-25-2010), indicating that these discs do not contain the original titles, but hopefully the remastered versions.

You mean none of the 72 discs play at all? That's what "coasters" implies.

I did not mean to imply that the counterfeit discs are unplayable. Perhaps a misuse of the term "coasters" on my part.

I suppose that I could give the counterfeit set to some unsuspecting person, but I'd just as soon use the discs as coasters or skeet targets rather than give someone an inferior set.

Finally, advice of mine works out! I'm very glad you got a happy ending to this journey.

Wow, Scott, you found one of the earlier box sets! That’s cool. As you know, I got the set RDJ got above. So we have to deal with those stacked up platters. But no problem.

The blu ray complete series set should be coming soon! ;)

I've heard instances before where people were told to just keep it. That just goes to show what these sets actually cost to manufacture.

I have the repackaged set and also threw it out (the cases and box). I put the discs into "cd case" that holds all of the discs (I think the exact amount). While I don't love sliding discs to store, I've never had an issue storing cds and they are snug enough to be secure, but not so snug that they are hard to get in and out and I had the delicate nature of those stacked disc cases and also having to remove a disc to get to one.

In the few cases where I've run into counterfeiters, I've found that they do not want their real address known, so there is no way to return the bad item. The last thing they want is for any authorities to figure out where they are.

I'm new to this thread. Just watched Cocoon parts 1 and 2 on Paramount +. Anyone ever comment on how this episode has echoes of Frankenheimer's The Manchurian Candidate - down to the use of actors James Gregory and Khigh Dhiegh (typecast as a brainwasher and in Frankenheimer's SECONDS too)? Brainwashing? Communist infiltration of the US government.
