These are a combo of replacements after a house fire in 2020 and those I could salvage because the box containing them caught the smoke damage. I have a bunch of other complete series in binders at the moment. A work in progress. Not pictured, the full laserdisc Star Trek TOS collection.

Very impressive, ScottRE! I'm amazed by the fact our collection is about 70% identical.

My favorite complete series set in my collection is the Little House on the Prairie set. I love that its compact, and shaped like the house, and fits in the palm of my hand. It looks cute sitting on my bookshelf. I realize some collectors aren't fans of gimmicky packaging and cardboard sleeves, but I really don't mind these little season folders with photos. I'm glad I got it when I did because I believe this version is out of print, and they are now packaged in more standard packaging.

Impressive-- you apparently enjoy quite a few of the same ones I do!

BTW, when it comes to O-R NBC Trek of the 60s, why do you have the Blu all-in-one with choice of original or remastered effects, and the original clamshell DVDs as well (original effects only)?

Well, a variety of reasons. got a minute? LOL

I actually prefer the DVD prints, I feel the HD prints reveal too much and I don't like the color grading on the blu rays. For example, the lean too far into the avocado color of how the command tunic looked on set rather than the "gold" it looks on TV. The original effects also hold up better in standard definition than they do in HD. The seamless branching between the two created a few glitches that aren't in the original prints. The 1968-69 Paramount logo is still on the DVDs but missing from the blu rays. The sound mix, while not correct in either version, is often more pleasing to me on DVD. But...I still go back to the DVDs for certain episodes that sound better on BD and are "more correct." When I want to just watch something closer to the original prints in sound, color and print quality, I go back to the laser discs. My relationship with Star Trek is a little complex. I also just generally like to collect the different releases of the series as keepsakes.

That explains it! I'm not against that at all if that's what you enjoy/believe in; I prefer, however, to have just one version of a specific series usually in cases where that series has had more than one version.

I am the same way with most shows. I've upgraded a number of them and gave away the older copies because the upgrade was just fine; The Incredible Hulk, The Time Tunnel, Magnum PI, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Airwolf, etc. However, I will keep an older version if the upgrade made a change that was different from the original airings, like Lost in Space, SeaQuest, Space:1999 I Dream of Jeannie, Land of the Giants, etc.

Star Trek - well, that's just insanity trying to have an accurate representation of the series as originally shot. If CBS/Paramount ever released the original series with all of the accurate sound, production logos and effects with no branching, I'd probably part with a lot of earlier versions. Alas...

One of these days, I'll list every change in these shows, but for now, let's just say some shows were changed in various ways that have nothing to do with music rights and it baffles me.

Here's another collection that I considered a complete disaster lol. "Marvel's Agents of Shield" came out as a wide release for season one (as it should be) with a nice, slick slipcover. Then I guess it didn't sell well, so season 2 was available only as an amazon mod. Mine got sent with a nice amazon crack in the case and no slipcover. Then it was cancelled stateside, and only available from Region 2. So I ordered season 3 thru amazon.uk and they sent me this big fat collector's edition which I can't quite explain, because supposedly it was also available in the slimmer versions that surround it. The next two seasons were also from the UK. Then even they gave up and didn't release the last two seasons at all. I am told that there is a region free version of 6 from Japan, but I also gave up on this show.

My series collection. I hate taking photos with a cell phone. Wish I still had my digital camera.

American Horror Story. Not too bad...Season 1 didn't have a slipcover but the others did. The blu-ray discs were discontinued in the U.S. after season 6, but two more came out in the UK (region free). I believe the next two season haven't ever come out.

And if you're into chonky, I give you Game of Thrones. Boy oh boy, this series sure takes up a lot of shelf space, seeing as there's only 73 episodes. Most of them were "Target Exclusives," and had additional discs of extras.
