Does anyone know how this is packaged? The only art I've seen is of a box, saying it's a slipcase. Are the disks packaged as individual seasons (ex: Law & Order, The Fugitive) or several seasons lumped together in one mega-binder (ex: the Blue Bloods multi-season set)?

Mine should be arriving in the mail tomorrow. I'll post about the packaging then if no one else beats me to it.

Mine came yesterday. It's the same as all of the other recent CBS/Paramount complete series sets. With the thick large clear plastic cases. This set has three of them. I think it was divided into seasons 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12.

I'm guessing the Streets of San Francisco set will be the same except just 1-1/2 cases.

Are the season 10 discs from the newer hd transfers, or the older individual first dvd release which used crappier older transfers?

EBay entry for this new release: the sides of the cases are white with the Hawaii Five-O title, and the season number spans on each case in red

Gotta love the text on the back of the case, noting "classic episodes such as The Face of the Dragon, Fools Die Twice and Clash of Shadows". The writer likely is not a fan of the show, as there about 100 better episodes to choose from (i.e. Hookman, V for Vashon, Draw Me a Killer, I'll Kill em Again).

Wait, are they calling it "The Complete Series", because if so, I think I'll buy it and sue because "Bored, She Hung Herself" is missing, like that broad who is suing MGM over the Bond 50 box set because it says it's the complete James Bond but it's missing the original Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again.

Edit:

I feel I needed to add a smilie to convey the proper tone of the post.

And for me: "The Singapore File," "Cry, Lie," "Which Way Did They Go," "Most Likely to Murder."

Most likely the individual assigned to designing the packaging, is a milllennial who is either an intern or a recent hire (or temp).

Somebody who has first-hand experience of watching the original H5O in its original first-run, is probably retired by now or is in middle-management. If the CBS/Paramount workplace is run by a bunch of MBAs, then most likely middle management won't be dong "lowly" tasks like designing product artwork and packaging.

A common problem with these new sets from CBS/Paramount. Many times the text and pictures of these new releases are filled with errors and inaccuracies that make true fans of the show cringe. I've posted before about how bad the Mission: Impossible set is in regards to the choice of pictures assigned to the artwork (Steven Hill prominently featured all over the Season 1-3 slipcase and no Peter Graves, Barbara Bain featured on the Season 4-6 slipcase despite not being in any of those seasons, etc.) and apparently the recent DS9 and Voyager packages are no better in this regard.

I think the reason why Barbara Bain is on the 4-6 case, and Hill on the 1-3, in that Mission: Impossible all-in-one, is because they were going for the images that, in their opinion, best exemplified what the show was about. Would you agree?

Perhaps, but I can say that the majority of the pictures featured on the back of the Season 1-3 slipcase are all mostly from the first half of Season 1. It almost seems like someone just scanned through the first 15 episodes or so and grabbed images from there. I think it would have made more sense to include someone like Leonard Nimoy on the front of the Season 4-6 slipcase since he's actually featured in the majority of those seasons.

I have had this series so long I was not as fortunate as those who purchased it recently. My box is an unfortunate cardboard monstrosity that treats discs with sandpaper gloves.

Are you referring to the original all-in-one of M:I, or to Hawaii Five-O?

Wow! I absolutely love the original complete series set. It is the best looking and most stylish packaging of all my TV on DVD sets(a few hundred). The two book, thick cardboard design along with the episode titles, air dates and season specific photos with beautiful Hawaii backdrops are great.
Also the special features bonus disc the new set is missing.

Actually it is the only set I can think of that the high quality of the set matches the show it contains.

Maybe I need to look at it with fresh eyes.

Right now on Amazon there's about a $25 difference between the recent Complete Series set and the original Collector's Edition Complete set.....well worth the extra $$ in my opinion to have the nicer packaging and the bonus disc.

It just depends on what you like. If you don't like the way the discs are housed that is understandable. It is a non issue for me.
I hated the MASH Medicine and Martinis complete dvd set. That was an all around disaster with thin cardboard sleeves the discs got lost in.

It's not just that I don't like how the discs are housed, it's how bulky the set is. I still have it just as it came from Amazon.

Yes, the MASH set was horrendous. I made other arrangements for MASH, and my discs appreciated it.
