Gang I am trying to determine if I have any issues with my sub xover. I have a Harman Kardon 520 receiver and an Energy ES-8 sub. There is a single RCA cable from the HK to the Energy's sub input. The sub xover is set to 80 Hz on the 520. I have axiom m3tis all around. The xover dial on the...
Vince Any specs on either of these beasts? By the way, Oade will not match Sammans price. I used to work right up the street from Sammans when I lived in NJ. Order with confidence. They are the ones to beat right now. Tom
Just got off the phone with sammans - $640 for the 4ES, $1440 for the 7ES! Damn! I just bought the 5 ES 2 weeks ago for $800. Then, I decided to go for the Harman Kardon 520 for $600. Oh my God, what to do? I would only consider the 4 ES at this point.
Help!
I have a Sony STR-DA 5ES receiver that allows me to adjust the crossover frequency for each speaker. I am going to set this at 80 Hz. The 5ES also has a LFE High Cut Filter option. Can someone tell me what this is and should I change it? Also, I am connection one end of the RCA cable...
Gang On my Sony STR-DA5ES, I see there is an option to adjust the crossover frequency of the front, center, ans surround speakers. The front and surround speakers are identical - Axiom M3tis. Their frequency response is 60 Hz - 22 kHz (+/- 3 db); 50 Hz- 22 kHz (+3db, -9db). The center's freq...
Gang Like many others, I have decided to do business with Mark of audioshop. Like many of you, I purchased Axioms on reputation alone. Boy, am I glad I found this forum and Mark. Goodbye Take 5, hello Axiom! I simply hooked up my Vp 150 and four M3Tis and away we went. Listened to the Eagles...
Gang Took delivery of my new Axioms yesterday. Oh my! Good bye Energy Take 5, hello Axiom! Anyways, on my 5ES, I see there is an option to adjust the crossover frequency of the front, center, ans surround speakers. The front and surround speakers are identical - Axiom M3tis. Their frequency...
Should I have gotten qs4s in the rear instead? I did get the vp150 center though. My sofa is sitting right up against the rear wall. I have a solid wall to the west and open space to the right. Tom
With regards to the Harmon Kardon 520, why oh why, in this digital age, only 2 optical inputs on the back? Why an optical input on the front? If you are only going to provide 3 optical inputs, at least place all 3 on the rear? One of the great things about the Sony 5 ES are the rear 4 optical...
Gang I was all set to buy Paradigm Titans or Atoms until I cam acroos you guys. As I stated in my subject line, my "home theater room" (ie living room) has the dimension of 16 ft in the N-S direction and 12 ft in the E-W direction. There are solid walls to the N, S, and W. It is open to the...
I am thinking of Titans for the front ($219 a pair), a cc-170 center ($200) and ADPs or titans for the rears. Any recommendations? It will be hooked up to my new 3802. Thanks! Tom
I have my dvd player hooked via a toslink cable. For now I am going to use it as a cd player as well. I would like to know what I would need to do on 5ES to get it to play the cd w/out any digital processing. Thanks! Tom
Gang I notice that when I want to watch a DVD, I need to bring the volume up so to speak. If I immediately play a game afterwards, I am having to turn the sound down. Is this normal? I ask this because on my old 50ES, my volume rarely ever went beyond the 10 oclock position. On the 5ES, I am...
Tom Do yourself a favor and get the Sony STR-DA 5ES. With three gaming systems, satellitle, DVD, it has allowed me to connect all of them. Plus, it is one of the very few receivers that has 4 optical inputs.
I am looking into bi-wire speakers. How would I connect these to my 5ES? On the received end, for a speaker, would I have to connect all four wires to a single binding post via the "screw down the binding post" method? Sorry if my questions are silly. Tom
I havd a 5.1 speaker system connected to the ES. In order to play back 6.1 sound tracks, do I simply turn 6.1 decoding on AUTO and enable one of the Cinema Studio Surround modes? If so, which Cinema sound mode is the best. Thanks! Tom
