I bought into DirecTV yesterday mostly because of the DirecTv-Tivo unit. I've had Dish network for 2.5 years now but it was cheaper to get into DirecTV then to get a comparable unit with Dish as a current subscriber.
With the discounts, rebates and programming incentives it was a pretty good deal.
Right now my installation is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Friday. The weather might be a problem though. Snow is just starting to fall and it might be too much for the installer. Fingers are crossed.
