Hud (1963).
Curious what you mean about "3D effect" scenes in McKenna's Gold.
I would definitely like to see a great many of the actual 3-D Westerns of the 1950s remastered.
Most notably
The Charge at Feather River (Guy Madison)
Hondo (John Wayne)
Fort Ti (George Montgomery)
The Stranger Wore a Gun (Randolph Scott)
The Moonlighter (Barbara Stanwyck, Fred McMurray)
The Bounty Hunter (Randolph Scott)
Southwest Passage (John Ireland, Joanne Dru)
probablyThe "3D effect" maybe because it was intended to be a Cinerama film?
I would also like to see any of the 1950's 3D titles released in 3D.
Hondo is particularly galling, as a 3D DCP already exists.
Fort Ti
Would LOVE to get a copy of the 3D version of John Waynes Hondo.
That's with Warner Brothers and they haven't released a 1950's 3-D title in five years.
Fort Ti is a Columbia title. It should be with Sony, along with other William Castle 3-D titles Jesse James Vs The Daltons and Drums of Tahiti.
Sony also has The Nebraskan.
I would buy HONDO in Real 3D in a second & have it on my watchdog list. That was a major missed opportunity. It could've been one of the go to showcase titles back when 3dtvs were hitting an affordable pricepoint. It would've opened a lot of eyes.
Oh well.
It doesn't technically belong on the list since from what I've seen their master looks particularly good. I just need to see it in 3-D. I'm sure a limited edition release would sell out fast.
Twilight Time also released two other Columbia 3-D titles, which I'm sure have temporarily slipped you mind. Rather good ones too, one of which is a western.Yup, your right. Twilight Time released Man in the Dark and Miss Sadie Thompson but that's it for 1950's 3D titles from Columbia.
WESTWARD THE WOMEN was released on DVD by Warner Archive, but I would love to have it on Blu Ray as it is directed by my favorite director, William Agustus Wellman. Two I'd love: Westward the Women and The Big Sky. Also, two silent "kinda westerns" Greed and The Wind.
any of these would definaltly make me a happy camper!!!That's with Warner Brothers and they haven't released a 1950's 3-D title in five years.
The 3D Film Archive future announced releases are below. Maybe after they are released we will hear of new titles.
Flesh For Frankenstein
Revenge of the Shogun Women
Robot Monster
Jack and the Beanstalk.
The Abbott and Costello
Treasure of The Four Crowns
The Diamond Wizard
The Bubble Road Show
