Terminator 2: UE has a very average transfer for today's standards. I actually prefer MGM's Terminator: SE much better even though it looks more dated because it is very clean and doesn't have the edge enhancement that T2 does. T2 suffers from too many compression artifacts, as well.

Big noggin'. Lotsa fire. Looking at the "X" in "Extreme", I see they try to appeal to the X-Box crowd. Uck. I'm sure it will stand out on the shelf, and that of course is the goal.

They don't even put Arnold on the cover!! Btw, what's the point of releasing this, if T3 is gonna bomb? :P

Btw, I shouldn't have ripped the plastic warp of my precious T2:UE. I should've left it sealed and just buy this new terminatri"X"treme Edition..

The skeletal terminator as pictured never even appears in T2. Not to mention how ludicrous it is to call it an "extreme" edition.

the cover looks cool but I am not about to upgrade since T":UE was my first DVD I ever bought

Guys, the cover doesn't say "2 discs" anywhere! (but I accept it could be another DVD-18)

I'm sure I read somewhere that this new edition was going to have less supplements than the Ultimate Edition - hell we don't even know which of the 3 movies (or combinations of) it will be.

So perhaps the Ultimate Edition could still be classed that as it will offer more? It all depends on your point of view but I'll admit the naming is rather dubious.

Of course, especially if they do only go for one cut of the film, it's perfectly possible the new edition will have a better transfer. :frowning:

The headaches of being a DVD collector!

You are right about no mention of a 2 disc edition or dvd18

As much as I hate to say it, I'll buy this re-release in a second if the rumors are true and we somehow get to see the T2:3D film from Universal Studios. Now THAT would make this an extreme edition.

Somehow I get the idea that this cover is fake...call me crazy, but the dvd.ign.com URL at the bottom right of the case suggests something.

It suggests only that the image came from dvd.ign.com. IGN, just like DavisDVD and other DVD websites whose scans of cover images get posted here, brand their URL on their images. It's still an authentic image. Jeremy Conrad, who posted the image, is IGN's DVD editor and a HTF regular, and does not post fakes posing as real covers.

They would have to compromise the presentation to include it. T2-3D includes live action stunts, moving seats, and even mist sprayed from the ceiling. Everyone needs to see it in the proper venue.

No, they're going to include all of that in the package - that's what makes the new DVD so EXTREME!!!;)

Maybe someday we'll get the Special,Ultra,Deluxe,Fancy,SuperDuper,Rock your socks off version of the film with Limited scrap of shrapnell from the original terminator. Good lord , enough with the rerererelease of DVD's. Ive bought enough of the same movie over and over. Dogma, Reservoir dogs (gladly) Pulp Fiction (gladly) Terminator, Apocalypse now, etc.
