And placing a piece of sheet metal around a speaker does not magnetically shield it! It will just transmit the magnetism right through.
That's very interesting, how exactly do they shield speakers today then? Feathers? Harsh language? Oh, that's right, they use METAL around the drivers.

I suppose you will next tell me that Mu-Metal is NOT METAL at all?

They use Mu-Metal. And it is a very specific alloy and not cheap. Most other metals act as conductors of magnetic fields!

"Note the "quote" button, conveniently provided also."

This feature cuts the whole parragraph which then has to be edited if you do not need to reply to it all.

The most effective shields are constructed as enclosures such as boxes or better yet, cylinders with end caps. Because the field follows the line of the enclosure, an enclosed shape keeps stray fields from finding gaps which could cause unintended interference.
Any ferrous metal will act as a magnetic shield, MuShield just uses an alloy of metals that have a higher permeability than plain steel.

uh, they use cancelation magnets.

has anyone actually took apart a sheilded speaker? and how can they have this mu-metal around the driver? I broke apart a sheilded driver and saw no extra metal

Mu metal is used to make a "cap" for the driver's magnet.
Shielded. Notice the silver cap for the magnet.
Not shielded
Cancellation, or bucking magnets, are sometimes used too. Just depends on the manufacturer.
Still no response from Boston.
