I'm another who's used alcohol for years to clean discs. I usually have single use alcohol pads in the house, so I usually just use those.

If you buy or receive a disc that has been written on with markers, it'll also remove that writing.

What about those packaged eyeglass wipes?

I've never tried them though I'd think they'd work just fine as most eyeglass lenses are plastic. Those usually cost more than plain alcohol cleaning pads (I use and recommend those at work when a teacher has a disc that won't play - easier/safer for classroom use) so I'd likely only use one if I was out of everything else. I've kept 90% isopropyl alcohol and denatured alcohol on hand for 50+ years to clean the plastic and metal in tape recorder paths and heads (denatured for plastic/metal and 90% for rollers as it doesn't dry them out as bad). I've not tried denatured on discs as the 90% works very well. I have both a "dropper" bottle and spray bottle.

I recently took the cellophane off of my TT copy of Zardoz and gave it a spin. It stuttered to a stop about 5 minutes in, then eventually skipped a minute ahead. I tried a careful cleaning of the disc with no change. I'm running a scan on it using the VSO Inspector recommended above by David Norman, and it's showing significant file reading failure.

Very disappointed, to say the least. I haven't had the heart to play past that first five minutes.

That's great news. The ones that failed for me are:
Bye Bye Birdie
The Best of Everything
Picnic
Oliver!

Can you please share with us the player you have? I have a Yamaha BD-S677. All firmware is up to date.

I have played The Best of Everything and Oliver! within the last couple of months and both played fine on my equipment (Panasonic Blu-ray players).

Well, *sigh* I guess it was only a matter of time but I found the first TT title in my collection to go bad. Khartoum (1/21/14) freezes and sputters around the 1:17 mark :(

So far none of my 33 twilight time blu rays have stopped working. The one I play a lot is la Bamba. No issues over here maybe it’s the player for some of you. I still have a few twilight time movies that I haven’t seen yet. I’ll have to watch them and make sure they work.

I would not be surprised. I haven't gotten around to checking my TT discs yet, but when I've checked Warner DVDs from the problematic 2005-2009 period, most of the time they won't work in one of my players, but will work in another.

I do believe it’s the player
