If I run my set-top box through the 3.5mm jack on the back of the stb would the picture be of the same quality as if the stb had a standard, formal, multi-pin s-video connection or is it somehow inferior?

    Cheers

Not sure what a 3.5mm jack is, Rick, but if it’s composite video then yes, the S-video would be a better choice.

At the risk of sounding too technical, it's like the little plug at the end of the cord from those tiny little earbuds that you listen to a walkman with (do people still use walkmans or is it walkmen?). That is, there is a little hole marked s-video at the back of the stb - instead of a normal s-video input it's a little hole for putting the aforementioned plug in.

    Cheers
    Rick
