quality of 3.5 mm s-video jack (1 Viewer)

If I run my set-top box through the 3.5mm jack on the back of the stb would the picture be of the same quality as if the stb had a standard, formal, multi-pin s-video connection or is it somehow inferior?

At the risk of sounding too technical, it's like the little plug at the end of the cord from those tiny little earbuds that you listen to a walkman with (do people still use walkmans or is it walkmen?). That is, there is a little hole marked s-video at the back of the stb - instead of a normal s-video input it's a little hole for putting the aforementioned plug in.
