Four Frightened People (1934)
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Critic Nick Pinkerton
• Theatrical Trailer

From Cecil B. DeMille, the legendary director of The Plainsman, The Sign of the Cross, Union Pacific and Reap the Wild Wind, comes the adventure-filled Four Frightened People, starring the fabulous Claudette Colbert (Cleopatra, The Gilded Lily). When a deadly bubonic plague breaks out on a coastal steamer ship, four passengers steal a lifeboat and set sail on a mission of survival. They land on a remote Malayan island and soon shed all trappings of their former selves. After their native guide is suddenly murdered, they find themselves at the mercy of hostile islanders and must use their newfound survival skills if they are going to escape a terrible fate. Co-starring Herbert Marshall (The Good Fairy), Mary Boland (Stingaree), William Gargan (The Story of Temple Drake) and Leo Carrillo (20 Mule Team), this largely overlooked treasure highlights the versatility of one of Hollywood’s most renowned filmmakers.
Claudette Colbert in leopard skin. A must buy!

Peter Ibbetson (1935)
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian David Del Valle, Moderated by Producer Miles Hunter
• Theatrical Trailer

From Henry Hathaway, the masterful director of The Lives of a Bengal Lancer, Spawn of the North, The Shepherd of the Hills, 23 Paces to Baker Street and True Grit, comes this unique romantic drama based on the George du Maurier novel. Screen legend Gary Cooper (The General Died at Dawn, Beau Geste) stars as Peter Ibbetson, a successful bachelor who feels no interest in a charming woman named Agnes (Ida Lupino, Woman in Hiding, Road House), but longs for his childhood neighbor, Mary (Ann Harding, Holiday, The Animal Kingdom). When he is commissioned by British royalty to rebuild some stables, he is delighted to find that the spirited Duchess is actually his long-lost beloved. Her quick-tempered husband (John Halliday, Desire, Intermezzo) becomes violent when he discovers their past, but his jealousy is no match for their will to be together… even if it is only in a dream world of their creation.

Desire (1936)
• Brand New HD Master from a 2K Scan of the Interpositive!
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Samm Deighan
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian David Del Valle
• Theatrical Trailer

From Frank Borzage, the acclaimed director of Bad Girl, Little Man, What Now?, The Mortal Storm and Moonrise, comes the classic romantic comedy Desire. Screen legends Marlene Dietrich (The Blue Angel, Touch of Evil) and Gary Cooper (Beau Geste, High Noon) star in this story about a crime spree that leads to love. In the most elaborate jewel heist in European history, the beautiful and conniving “Countess” Madeline (Dietrich) embezzles a small fortune of pearls. As she makes her getaway to Spain to deliver the hot goods, her escape is thwarted by car trouble, until a handsome and likable young tourist (Cooper) helps her out. She shows her gratitude by leaving the unsuspecting good Samaritan in the dust—literally! When he accidentally ends up with the pearls, she must feign romantic interest to get them back. The charade soon turns into the real thing, however, and Madeline realizes that her only hope of happiness is to clean up her act—no matter what the cost—or lose the man she loves. Desire co-stars Akim Tamiroff (The General Died at Dawn), John Halliday (Bird of Paradise) and William Frawley (TV’s I Love Lucy).

O.S.S. (1946)
• Brand New HD Master from a 2K Scan of the Interpositive!
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Samm Deighan
• Theatrical Trailer

From Irving Pichel, the outstanding director of The Most Dangerous Game, She, The Bride Wore Boots, Quicksand and Destination Moon, comes this noirish actioner about a team of spies and saboteurs in Nazi-occupied France. Screen great Alan Ladd (This Gun for Hire, Calcutta, Shane) stars with Geraldine Fitzgerald (So Evil My Love) in this riveting war-time spy thriller. The story opens at an Army spy school where tactics and gadgets used in espionage operations are demonstrated to students—as well as the sobering lesson that one wrong move could cost them their lives. A cunning captain (Ladd) of an O.S.S. team is sent undercover into Nazi-occupied France to blow up a railway tunnel. With danger constantly at their backs, the team carefully plots a course of action while the enemy is closing in and D-Day is fast approaching.

Great news! Now I can retire that old Universal Gary Cooper Collection set as this makes the last of that set available on blu ray. Thank you, KL.

Superb film. Terrific news!

Peter ibbetson is a superb film although not well remembered today. Hopefully this release changes that. There is no mention of even a 2k scan but since i dont think this film has ever been released by anyone in hd there has to be at least a 2k scan i would think.

Indeed! Specially considering that, when asked some time ago, Mr. Inside told us Kino had no interest in releasing this title.

I can only think of a Cooper fan in this forum that will be thrilled with this announcement.

Yup i am thrilled on this and desire being released on the same day!

Yes that old 2005 collection was on flipper discs that had a troubled history. Mine will be tossed as soon as Peter ibbetson arrives.

Ah, the good ol' days of flippers! I do not believe I own any of those anymore, except a couple that featured widescreen vs. fullscreen transfers. Good riddance.

I also remember those flippers, and even worse was the enlarged hub where you could stack 3 DVDs on top of each other, and would easily get dinged up

Peter Ibbetson was another title I remember KL saying it was unavailable during the previous deal. Im glad it's available now. Another DVD bites the dust. One more Cooper DVD to go ( City Streets) ! :)
