BFD - Rack mount tabs - Removal?

I know you can just pop them off, but that leaves the sides of the case open. Anyone find a good solution? Right now, I have 3 things I'm thinking about: 1. Cut them off with the jig saw 2. Get some alumnium stock at the hardware store, and make replacements 3. Get a small 3 place Rack...

    Semi-Seperates setup?

OK, I just found out I can get the Denon 3803 for a steal ($575) vs. the $1400 for the 4802. So, I'm thinking I'll get the 3803 and add some outlaw Mono Blocks to make up for the power difference. They will be powering Def Techs: Front: BP10's Center: CLR2000 A Surrounds: BPVX (Movies)...

Speaker types (direct, bipolar) for 7.1 surrounds/rears?

OK, if I'm doing a 7.1 setup for Movies, what type of speaker to I want for the side surrounds? Most things I've seen says bipole or dipole for the surrounds, and direct radiating for the rears. Somethings I read say that dipole or bipole's for the rears are better. So, its a personal choice...

Check/comment on my Def-Tech 7.1 setup plans please

OK, I'm getting either a Denon 3803 or 4802 Receiver. I'm also getting a SVS PB2-Plus So, now I need the other 7 speakers. To me, the Def-Tech website sucks, so I'm having problems finding the info I need. Check my list, and see if it all sounds right: Fronts: BP30s Center: Pro Center 2...

    Denon 4802-Component only 50Mhz bandwidth?

I'm comparing the 3803 and the 4802 because I can now get the 4802 for about the same price I was going to pay for the 3803. I noticed that it lists the bandwidth for the component as only being 50MHz instead of the 100Mhz on the 3803, is this going to cause problems later on? Right now I only...

Looks like I need the BFD (graph attached)

So, I did some tests last night. I set the volume to do 70dB on the Sub with the receiver Test tone. I then ran through the test tones on my SVS 20-39PC+ I only ran the tones with the sub+mains on from 50Hz up. Crossover on the receiver is set at 80Hz. I have a really solid dip...

http://www1.dealtime.com/xPF-JVC_AV_...FD-86~PD-17776 I have the chance to pick this up used from someone here at work. It would replace my Sharp 27" from '98. Also, it has component inputs, and currently I'm just using the S-video, but my DVD can do component out. Is it that big of a...

    Sherk Disc Replacement?

HK 525 Vs. Denon 3803 Video Only!

Yes, another one of these threads. Purely on the video side of things though. From what I've seen/read and the specs, to me the Denon looks like its better for video. Partially because it has twice the bandwidth for the component vs. the HK. Any other comments on this? Thanks Murdock

Any Z1 and X1 in Colorado, home or retailer for 'auditioning'?

I'm looking at both projectors. I like the DLP Portion of the X1, but I like the Z1's native 16x9 format. I've never seen either one, and I'm looking to check them out. I want to find out two things: 1. Do I see the rainbox effect (doubt it, I'm partially color blind anyways) 2. Will I see...

http://www.americansatellite.com/pro...9MQ1V&ITEM=903 Its the Dual LNB dish, the HDVR2 Tivo/Reciever unit, and a 2nd receiver. Few questions: Would this include Dolby Digital out? Whats the 4-way multi switch? What do you think, decent price, or can I get it elsewhere cheaper? Murdock

    16:9 or 4:3 Projector?

I'm looking at a Front Projection setup. I'll only be using it to watch DVD's (progressive), and maybe play some PS2. Should I go for a native 4:3, or 16:9? Right now I'm leaning towards the InFocus X1, which is 4:3, but supports the 16:9. I figure I can just manually mask the screen for 16:9...
