JVC D-Series 36" TV for $450? Good deal? (1 Viewer)

I have the chance to pick this up used from someone here at work. It would replace my Sharp 27" from '98.

Also, it has component inputs, and currently I'm just using the S-video, but my DVD can do component out. Is it that big of a difference?

I'm pretty sure that is the model I have and for a direct-view it is very nice. From 8-9 feet away it looks pretty damn good from DVD with component. And I did notice a difference going from SVID to component on this TV, too. I actually won mine from a contest (about $1100 shipped from crutchfield) 3 years ago. It's help up nicely...

Course, once I got into HT, I just couldn't take it anymore. I recently purchased a toshiba 57H82 and love it! It's sooo much better with the big screen. But the 36 is in the bedroom now and working wonderfully. I do notice the pixels a little more than my old RCA 32" in the bedroom from the same distance (4-5 feet), but the extra size it nice. And though I see the pixels, it still has great color and clarity...

If you really want a 36 and want a good set (you can probably get a new (cheap) RCA 36 these days for $450), that's a decent deal. Just make sure it is in good shape and from a reliable friend (one that didn't abuse the set).
