The original Contra was great. I hope they keep some type of co-op play because that was the best thing about the original Contras.

No doubt! Contra was my first taste of co-op gaming.

Of course, there are technical problems in creating 3D coop play, so you know that some people are going to complain about the jump to 3D. The only way to do co-op gameplay in 3D is with a seperate monitor for each player, IMO.

Gui,

Select Start was used for Player 2.

My brother and I played a LOT of coop Contra.

Is that the game where you play this "rambo" kind of looking guy and you had a knob on the control panel which clicked in like 8 different positions and that controlled where your machine gun was pointing. It was like a vertical scroller, kind of like Spy Hunter???

Sounds familiar!

Hehe, I just bought Contra and Super C for the NES and it was total nostalgia punching in that code again (select, start for me too!). I can't wait to try out a 3-D version. I highly doubt Konami can screw it up.

Now if SNK could only bring back Guerrilla War...

I think you're either thinking of Heavy Barrel of Midnight Resistance

I was just about to post something about the code when I saw the thread-wonder if they'll bring it back...

Actually, didn't one of the Super Nes games from Konami kill you if you put in the code (unless you substituted L and R for Left and Right)? I don't think it was SuperC though...

As for impossible to do 3D co-op... *cough* HALO *cough*

Sorry-had to point it out. Yes, split screen is not ideal, but it actually worked there. System link play though...

Just get MAME on your pc and relive all those old classics...and yes Ikari Warriors did have that that controller that clicked in 8 positions, also let you get into a tank :)

Does anyone not remember the terrible Contras that came out on the PlayStation???? I wouldn't be celebrating a new Contra just yet.

I think I'm thinking of Ikari Warriors cause I recall that tank that you can hop into. But I've also played Heavy Barrel before too...

Thanks!

The PS1 Contra you're talkign a out was developed by someone else other than Konami. I got the impression Konami woul dbe doing the development this time around.

Well not everything Konami does is all rosey. Konami made both of the terrible Castlevania games on the N64. Sorry but the only old character update to 3D game Konami has done right is MGS.......I plan to watch this title develope very closely. BTW They haven't said what Konami team is doing the game yet have they?
