UPDATE:
I finally laid down the cash for a USB 2.0 flash drive and downloaded the WinDVD 5 tryout onto it. I installed it onto my "HTPC", and playback is much smoother.
Now, I suppose there could have been a conflict of some sort on my system with PowerDVD 5, but unlikely.
Anyways, I have done extensive comparisons of the two on my system, and WinDVD 5 is much smoother for playback. Image quality seems to be a tie, though.
