I finally was able to watch my copy.

Loved loved loved it.

It’s one of my favorite movies and the way it opens with the curtain and the little screen and the comic book.
Also the credits.
This movie was one of the first movies I saw that was an event movie and it still feels that way.
The way this movie starts just feels like A MOVIE.

I bought the KCOP version of this and the long version of II on vhs years ago.
Josh took on the enormous task of putting these on dvd for himself and me.

Being able to watch all of it in HD quality is a special treat for me.

It didn’t drag or feel like a chore to watch even a little bit.

My go to will be the Donner cut but I’m just happy that Warner released this for those who want it.

I disagree with those who didn’t like Kidder in this.
Donner made her look like a movie star and she had the chops to pull it off too.

The theatrical is a 5 Star film.
The Donner cut might be 4.8

The Tv cut is easily a 4 to me.

This might not have been the best overall disc release of 2017, but it was my favorite disc release of 2017. Never thought we’d see this in this kind of quality and it was so much fun to revisit the film in this particularly epic version.

Is it the best way to see the movie? Probably not. But it brought me back to my childhood in such a visceral way and really made me believe again. All of the visuals and emotions are amplified by watching the longer version.

I'm with you both, SUPERMAN was my first event movie. I have this new cut, just haven't had the time to watch it yet (and it's killing me!).

But I am very happy to hear that it sounds like I will greatly enjoy revisiting this version of the film.

I bought superman UHd Blu Ray. I noted that my copy on iTunes has the extended version as an extra.

I have a question. The deleted ambulance scene on the blu-ray differs from the KCOP version in that it is the same take but a different angle. Does anyone know why that version was different? I know the scene wasn't shown on ABC.

That'd be a good question for the Warner Archive podcast. My best guess is that maybe the element for that particular angle wasn't in the best shape, so they substituted an alternate angle.

I was surprised to see that this alternate cut of the film is an extra in my 4k digital copy on iTunes.
