Yep, it seems 3DFA was under a tighter-than-usual gag order but now VS is able to test the power of 3D releases and I'll be willing to bet they'll be pleasantly surprised. In fact, I'll bet they'll see a halo effect -- folks initially attracted specifically by Silent Madness picking up other VS titles while they're at it.

They mention "limited to 6,000 units" and "Over 1000 left in stock". Over 4,000 sold in less than 24 hours?

The low budget slasher Silent madness is available for pre ordered ,I think. I saw the 2D preview. It isn't the best horror movie ,but, if your a 3D fan your not going to care. A second , like Dynasty this movie includes anaglyph version of the 3D version. Every body will be able to see this version ,as long as they are not color blind, that don't have a 3D set up. This is what kino Lorber and flicker alley should have been doing in their 3D titles. This is called choice.

I doubt they sold 4000 in an hour. It’s probably more likely that “over 1000 left” is the highest value that their software is set to display on the site.
With respect, I think you underestimate the sales #'s of this company. They sold 12,000 units of 'Rad' ($34.99) in a few days, and 6,000 copies of 'Tammy, and the T-Rex' limited edition almost instantly.
Also Black Friday is the busiest day of the year for their site because of the sale.

Now, the number of these copies going to resellers/scalpers is unknown. But the fact is these obscure titles from this extremely top notch label sell very, very well.

That’s entirely possible of course. But last night at midnight the sales counter showed “over 1000 left” and more than 12 hours later it shows the same. They may be moving lots of units and that’s great if they are. But I still think “over 1000 left” might be the highest number the website’s counter is set to display.

Ordered my copy. Is this a preorder or shipping now? I couldn’t tell from the mobile version of the page I ordered from.
On their web site in the top Black Friday banner when you click on more information they basically tell you you're gonna get it when you get it. Could be over a month or more.

Rad was also available during a pre-order period which I assume is how they decided on how many total copies that they'd need. Once it was pressed, they announced the print run and sold the copies that weren't pre-sold as part of that 3 day sale over Memorial Day. It's still impressive that a small label and small movie sold 12,000 total copies but it was longer than just that one sale.

Convergence has always been an issue with 1980's 3D titles. The worse two 35mm print I have for convergence issues are Jaws 3D and Amityville 3D. Treasure of the Four Crowns, although a not-so-great story line, looks pretty good on the screen. The best 80's title I have on film is Friday the 13th 3D. But nothing beats the newer 3D titles released by Technicolor beginning around 2010. They are as close to perfect as you can get. As to the older, classic titles, no one does as good a job as the Film Archive. Unbelievable restoration work.

Can't help but think convergence isn't strictly from the disc. I've read of viewers issues with convergence on a few discs that I also own. But I didn't have the issues when watching on my Viewsonic projector. I do recall in various posts that there were some particular brands of HDTV 3Ds that seemed notorious for convergence.

Anybody else notice that Kino Lorber has available for immediate purchase, the 1956 3D western classic,
Wings of The Hawk. I was under the impression that it wasn't going to be released until Feb 2021. But the listing makes no mention of a pre-order, so they must be shipping. Interesting note when searching for it on their web site, it won't pull up under 3D. But it will with a hyphen, 3-D. I'd post a link but not sure if that's allowed here.

I called Kino today. And confirmed that indeed they have the disc available for purchase. However they forgot to "Pre-Order" in the listing. They confirmed that indeed this title will not be released until February 2021. The 9th I think.

See post #68. It's in the listing.

I’ve been a Vinegar Syndrome subscriber for years. Not everything hits of course but they’re the best physical media company in the business—outstanding transfers, supplements, and marketing.
I'd pick Criterion as the best since they have deeper pockets and can license out titles from studios but Vinegar Syndrome does excellent work and is saving alot of movies from oblivion so they're a strong number 2 in my mind.

Most Vinegar Syndrome releases are outside my wheelhouse too, but I raced to grab two films I remember from my 1980's moviegoing - Buddies and Liquid Sky. Both are dual DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Liquid Sky has previously been on DVD and I remember it looking pretty good (rented but didn't buy it), but the Vinegar Syndrome edition looks like it was shot yesterday. And Buddies is one of those movies that had a very limited release and then disappeared for years, so it was a genuine shock to see it resurface.

They've also released new editions of Putney Swope and Patty Hearst. So, not all of their stuff is genre obscurities and porn.

Short version: Even though most of their titles aren't for me, I always look at what Vinegar Syndrome is releasing.

A second , like Dynasty this movie includes anaglyph version of the 3D version. Every body will be able to see this version ,as long as they are not color blind, that don't have a 3D set up. This is what kino Lorber and flicker alley should have been doing in their 3D titles. This is called choice.

I disagree. Creating an anaglyph version of a proper polarized 3D film should never be done without the consent of the filmmakers. Anaglyph is a seriously inferior process , not to mention the distortion of the colors in a color 3D film.
