I disagree. Creating an anaglyph version of a proper polarized 3D film should never be done without the consent of the filmmakers. Anaglyph is a seriously inferior process , not to mention the distortion of the colors in a color 3D film.

Yes it is inferior. But if you release it in Black and White, anaglyph does look OK. Also, it allows people who don't have a 3D TV to see it in 3D. The proper 3D version is also included for people who have a 3D TV. Plus more sales.

I had pre-ordered this title, but I’m happy to see The 3-D Film Archive was involved. Looking forward to it.

Got this email today from Vinegar Syndrome re my Silent Madness purchase:

[TD valign="top"]First of all, we bow down in gratitude for your order(s) and support. And now, we want to thank you in advance for your patience as we begin the shipping process!
So with that said, here are a few very important things as you hold your breath in anticipation of your shipping confirmation email:
First and most importantly, you must remember that it could be several weeks before your order ships and this is not something to be concerned about. Considering the ongoing delays with both Fedex and USPS, along with other delays, Coronavirus shutdowns, and the like, orders will almost definitely take a bit longer than usual to go out.
Second, if you don't receive a shipment confirmation email in the next couple weeks, don't panic! We got a whole lot of orders this time around and (see explanation above) everything is moving slower than usual. With that in mind, there is absolutely no reason to email us to ask about the status of your order. We promise that it WILL ship and that we are working nearly around the clock (at three locations!) to get everyone their stuff as quickly as humanly possible. Order check-in emails greatly slow the process down because we have to take time away from packing to respond to them. We've literally received hundreds of them so far, and the sale ended barely half a week ago!
Third, when your order does ship, the tracking info might take a while to accurately update. Fedex and USPS are collectively shipping tens of millions of packages right now. Remember that once your package has left our hands, we cannot do anything to make USPS or Fedex deliver it faster. Nor do we have access to any additional tracking data than you do.
Now, to thank you for your patience, we're giving everyone a $5 off coupon which you can use towards anything on the site, once it re-opens. The code is: patience5 . It will be valid through March of 2021.

I received the same email and it sounds like this is a huge hit and they received more orders than they thought they would. That’s good news, but now my anticipation is creeping in.

Just received it and popped it in. The real 3D disc is on the left covered by the paper glasses.

How is it you ask? It looks great! A tad soft, but that's probably just the movie. I'm so happy I bought it for my collection. The only odd thing I have to say about it is the very beginning...boy, does that pop-out strain your eyes. Had to watch that part 4-5 times before I found an area of the scene to look at without eye strain.

Wait 'till you see how they describe chapters...

I'll watch it all the way through this week some time.     :3dglasses:

THANK YOU 3D FILM ARCHIVE FOR A WONDERFUL JOB BRINGING US THIS 3DER!!!

Most Vinegar Syndrome releases are outside my wheelhouse too, but I raced to grab two films I remember from my 1980's moviegoing - Buddies and Liquid Sky. Both are dual DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Liquid Sky has previously been on DVD and I remember it looking pretty good (rented but didn't buy it), but the Vinegar Syndrome edition looks like it was shot yesterday. And Buddies is one of those movies that had a very limited release and then disappeared for years, so it was a genuine shock to see it resurface.

They've also released new editions of Putney Swope and Patty Hearst. So, not all of their stuff is genre obscurities and porn.

Short version: Even though most of their titles aren't for me, I always look at what Vinegar Syndrome is releasing.

still waiting for my copy to arrive,

they do have a new distribution deal for some older MGM properties, granted those will not always be mainstream, and the are breaking off the adult titles to a specific line,

and I'll add one other thing that hasn't gotten a lot of mention in this thread is their VSA - Vinegar Syndrome Archive titles, they are going back to the glory days of Blockbuster and that wall of what is that? And giving a new spin on titles that most would have been overlooked by the passage of time, of course these are limited runs, by hey sometimes you just want to watch Vice Academy 1-3 in the best possible presentation, L.A. Wars is entertaining, and they are still goofy funny.

It's going to look soft if harvested property. Half-height over/under 3D titles are effectively halving the resolution, and without dye-transfer printing to mitigate grain and increase apparent sharpness you get what you get. The only title [I believe] of this 3D period to be shot with a dual camera setup was Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, which was then converted to over/under for release.

I deleted one post because of political references. Either stay on topic without mentioning politics or next time, more drastic disciplinary action will take place.

I missed my chance since I had to get my computer repaired. I fear that vinegar syndrome closed permanently , maybe cause of covid rather than black Friday sales overwhelming them and they could reopen in March.
I wouldn't worry. Their last couple sales have resulted in them shutting down their site for weeks after. Then with the upcoming holidays, I'd expect them to leave the site offline but I think it'll be back in early January.

I remember when they'd have sales and they'd be offline for the rest of the week and then be back up but they've apparently gotten big enough where they must be doing very well with the sales because they're doing so much business that it takes a long to get through it all and they can take their site down and not worry about losing the business that might come in during that time. Nice to see an independent that does great work get rewarded for it.

For the sake of your eyes health see an eye doctor polaroid anaglyph I'm astigmatic no strain. polaroid glasses reveal an inner eye problem which you could have ,maybe. It may not of been the movie. See an eye doctor just to be on the safe side. I could be wrong.

It turned out that vinegar syndrome's release of the dual 3D blu- ray ," Silent Madness, in November was a pre sale and that's it's official release will be Jan 26 of next year.
