Lubezki's 2nd win in a row. Can't argue with either.

And another loss for Roger Deakins. I wonder if he even bothers showing up anymore...

Birdman for cinematography was my 2nd choice so I'm still happy. I preferred the masterfully done b&w Academy ratio in Ida.

HOLY SCHNIKES THEY LEFT OFF PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN!!!

Did they mention him last year? I guess the In Memoriam segment is not calendar-year-based.

What an AWFUL In Memoriam segment. Can't they either announce during the commercial break to applaud for everyone or just hold it until the end? So many "legends" didn't even get a single applause because, I'm guessing, no one in the crowd knew who they were. And really? Do we need Hudson out there?

I'm sure they do ask the audience to hold applause. There were only a few smatterings here and there. Not that bad, IMO.

But yeah, I've never understood the post-memoriam song. Just fade to black, hold for a few seconds, and go to commercial.

Some will disagree but, that is a segment they could shorten, then maybe they could shows some clips for the technical awards like sound, visual fx etc instead of just title cards.

Or just stop worrying about the shows length, it has never bothered me.

I figure at this point it's a given that you're supposed to hold your applause during In Memoriam.

On a happier note, that ad for Blackish was EPIC! :) (Good show, too.)
