Another thing to keep in mind that even though you are using Avia discs to calibrate, you aren't using testing equipment other than your eyes. If you have a little money to spend, you should get your tv properly calibrated by a professional. I've always read in magazines that an ISF certified guy is best for this. (Imaging Science Foundation) Not only do they adjust the brightness and contrast, but your gray scales as well. In my area it'll cost me around $500 to have a tv calibrated. Although, that'll be when I buy a new HD set. I don't feel it worth the price to calibrate an old set when I am happy with the picture and I am going to upgrade in a couple of years. The price varies on number of inputs and type of tv. CRT, projection, plasma, etc.

If you already know all this, being HT fans, than I apologize for taking up so much space. If you didn't, check out ISF's site... http://www.imagingscience.com/

And here is a link for an article from Sound and Vision.

I am considering becoming certified myself. They have a seminar coming in June to my town. Pricey though. I'd only do it if I go into business.

As for the alien scene...I didn't see the alien at the theater because I fell asleep during the movie. I'll rent it to give it a second chance.
