Back in the 70's if you had a bunch of hit records you could get a variety show. So no wonder the Starland Vocal Band got a show. Their string of hits started with Afternoon Delight and then went on to uuuuh... Any way it's a chance to see a young David Letterman who was a writer for the show and appeared often.

Starland Vocal Band Show - 1977

And for you younger crowd who has no clue what I'm talking about here is the string of hits Afternoon Delight!

We watched this last night. I'm not a big Bobby Vinton fan but we really enjoyed this special. Why - because it was shot at the Sands and was a real Las Vegas show from back when you could still drive on Fremont street. When the showrooms weren't arenas. When you could get a shrimp cocktail at a casino for 50 cents (yes there is an ad for them left in) instead of 50 bucks at Wolfgang Pucks. It's full of ladies kissing Bobby and corny naughty stuff but also had good songs - a great band including some big band and polka stuff. We thought it was worth the watch. Maybe you will too.

For the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World (we didn't make it until the opening of EPCOT in 1982...
