Hello all. I recently started subscribing to HDTV. Quite a noticeable difference compared to standard definition TV.

I know that there are many TV programs recorded and broadcast in HD. My question relates to movies (like Star Wars, Finding Nemo, etc, etc) which are broadcast on HD channels. Are they broadcasting from a source which is truly recorded in HD (720p or 1080i)?? Or are they just upconverting the typical DVD source?

HDNet Movies and the movie channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime) are using HD sources. The American networks, from what I've seen, sometimes use HD sourced and sometimes not. I'm not a big PBS watcher so this is based on just channel surfing past the station, but I have yet to come across any program on PBSHD that was HD sourced.

No idea what the policy for Canadian networks is.
