Looking for comparison of display types... (1 Viewer)

Is there a thread/faq/site somewhere that describes the pros and cons of the different kinds of display devices (direct view, RP, FP, plasma)? I'm looking for picture quality, ease of use, maintenance type factors more so than technical specs.
For example, I assume front projection is the "best" for pure home theater. How would the types be ranked for a multi-use (movies, games, cable, sports, etc.) system?
another example--how easy/difficult is calibration of each type? Which ones are do-it-yourself and which ones require an ISF professional?
and one more--what are the life expectancies for each, and what are the setup/maintenance costs relative to the initial purchase price?
I haven't been in the display forum before, so I'll happily accept pointers to other threads
