Thanks for the update although I’m really disappointed by the news. Maybe another Hercules, Ursus, or Samson film can be acquired instead.
Or even a Son of Hercules film under their original aspect ratio and language. Ive always been a fan of Perseus the Invincible which is known here as The Son of Hercules Against the Medusa (Or vice-versa)
I had the DVD of it at one point.
I agree the news for Maciste was a downer. I was hoping they might have a plan B, just another another nice widescreen print of the film or something.

Do the Italian rights holders have something better planned for their movies ? Probably not, and so they are just sitting on elements that fans like us would love to see on Blu-ray. Genius !

Some additional info regarding the TMM Roadshow Edition and Audio:

Utilized Stereo L/R combine for restoration of the feature, with the exception of Mono Overture, Intermission and Exit music for Roadshow version, which were up-mixed to stereo.

Overture Music (5:06)
Intermission Music (3:45)
Exit Music (4:28)

Sounds like what the DVD had and I'm good with that. After the very brief intermission music plays there is a slight pause and the entr'acte begins although the intermission card is still kept in view rather than being replaced by a black screen or entr'acte card. I'm not going to get hung up on technicalities :D

I’ll go where Thomas T goes; and am quite excited for all the gains and advancements that are certain to be enjoyed.:thumbs-up-smiley:

MACISTE CONTRO IL VAMPIRO is most likely canceled. The Italians were not willing to share the films elements with the studio. We hope to replace the title with something else.
ANY title of this genre in HD would be so greatly appreciated. So glad to notice some seeing the light of day here and abroad lately. Long live peplum! Over the years Kino has been very kind to us in this regard.

Screen legend Vincent Price (The Tomb of Ligeia) delivers a thrilling tour-de-force performance as a small-time actor plotting big-time revenge! This dramatically delicious concoction is an equal mixture of horror, comedy and Shakespeare that’ll please just about everyone—critics included! After years of suffering deadly reviews, hammy Shakespearean actor Edward Lionheart (Price) decides it’s curtains for his critics. Bumping off his detractors with executions inspired by the Bard, Lionheart stages a beheading in the manner of Cymbeline, a stabbing inspired by Julius Caesar and even an untimely removal of a pound of flesh improvised from The Merchant of Venice—proving once and for all that all the world really is a stage... for murder! Douglas Hickox (Brannigan) directed Price and a troupe of brilliant supporting players including Diana Rigg (Evil Under the Sun), Ian Hendry (The B¡tch), Harry Andrews (The Nightcomers), Coral Browne (The Killing of Sister George), Jack Hawkins (Kidnapped), Michael Hordern (The Night My Number Came Up), Robert Morley (When Eight Bells Toll), Dennis Price (Kind Hearts and Coronets), Diana Dors (The Pied Piper), Madeline Smith (Live and Let Die), Joan Hickson (Seven Days to Noon), Renée Asherson (Pool of London), Milo O’Shea (Arabian Adventure) and Eric Sykes (Shalako).

Dear K-L Insider,

A few years ago, Kino announced plans to release a UCLA-restored The Man on the Eiffel Tower, but nothing came of it. Any chance it'll see the light of day?
No, that release was cancelled around 20 years ago and we have no plans of releasing it. We actually had printed a couple of thousand discs, but had to trash them, a few ended up with critic's and others, saw one selling on Amazon for $200 a while back.

I'm just curious... can you say why you had to dispose of the discs after printing?

@Kino Lorber Insider

Will this release of The Last Man on Earth include the scenes described here?

"The 2008 DVD release by Ripley's Home Video in Italy restores not only the mother-with-crying-baby shots from the end scene of the film (as in the US MGM release), but also two lengthy sequences earlier in the film. The first is a flashback scene where Virginia consoles a tearful Morgan after the funeral of their daughter Kathy, while the second is a conversation between Morgan and Ruth after her she has changed into some of Virginia's clothes. Both scenes reinforce Morgan's utter devotion to his deceased wife and help to clarify his descent from a lively and vibrant family man to the grim loner, himself only one step away from the living dead." Coming in September on Blu-ray & DVD!

Two Fully Restored Classics from the Great Claude Chabrol!

BLUEBEARD (1963) aka LANDRU Color 119 Minutes 1.66:1 Not Rated
[/COLOR]
4K Restoration from the Original Camera Negative!
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Kat Ellinger
• Trailers

Legendary French New Wave director Claude Chabrol (Les Bonnes Femmes, The Champagne Murders) brings the shocking true story of serial killer Henri Désiré Landru to the screen with Bluebeard. Landru, played with dastardly charm by Charles Denner (The Bride Wore Black), is a seemingly respectable Parisian who devises a sick and ingenious scheme to supplement his dwindling income during the First World War. First, he lures wealthy dowagers to his villa. Then, he cons them into forking over their fortunes. Finally, he kills them, chops them up and immolates the pieces. This jet-black comedy was written by acclaimed author Françoise Sagan (Bonjour Tristesse) and features a host of superb actresses including Michèle Morgan (Port of Shadows), Danielle Darrieux (The Earrings of Madame de...), Hildegard Knef (Fedora), Juliette Mayniel (Les Cousins), Stéphane Audran (The Third Lover), Catherine Rouvel (Borsalino), Françoise Lugagne (Diary of a Chambermaid) and Mary Marquet (Fellini’s Casanova).

BLUE PANTHER (1965) aka MARIE-CHANTAL VS. DR. KHA Color 110 Minutes 1.66:1 Not Rated
• 4K Restoration from the Original Camera Negative!
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historians Howard S. Berger, Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson
• Trailers

French New Wave legend Claude Chabrol, the director of Le Boucher, The Third Lover, Line of Demarcation and L’Enfer, took a turn into the Eurospy genre with this ’60s-chic romp. On a train bound for Switzerland, a secret agent (Roger Hanin, Breathless, Code Name: Tiger) entrusts Marie-Chantal (Marie Laforêt, Purple Noon, The Girl with the Golden Eyes) with a jewel in the shape of a panther with ruby eyes. Unbeknownst to her, this jewel contains a virus powerful enough to destroy all humankind. The fiendish Doctor Kha (Akim Tamiroff, Touch of Evil, Alphaville) is just one among many spies from different nations trying to get their hands on the panther. But the cool-as-ice Marie-Chantal will evade all attacks by sheer female cunning, and shows panther-like qualities in dealing with her male—and female—foes. Francisco Rabal (L’Eclisse), Serge Reggiani (Le Doulos), Charles Denner (Bluebeard) and Stéphane Audran (Les Biches) lead the star-studded supporting cast in this colorful spoof of international espionage capers.

Nice to see a Eurospy film like Blue Panther get a release. Roger Hanin made a few Eurospy movies and was pretty good in them. Will pick that up for sure. Have never seen Chabrol's Bluebeard but that sounds pretty good too.

Love "Bluebeard"! Great cast. I recall it had gorgeous cinematography so the 4k scan will be much appreciated. Have never seen "Blue Panther" but really like the Tiger series with Roger Hanin directed by Charbol at the same time so I'm assuming this is similar.

What terrific releases! Not only is KL the gift that keeps giving when it comes to silent cinema but international cinema as well. I love "old" Hollywood as much as the next guy but it's announcements like these that make my collector's heart jump.

????? Aren't you going to give us film credits for Neff, Audran, Mayniel, Lugagne and Denner as well?

Also LOVE seeing '60s Eurospies get blu ray releases -- and I also love the very fun Roger Hanin. Would be nice to know more though about the audio: Will it include the English-language dub as a track? Or will it solely be the original French with English subs?
