I'm looking forward to the HD DVD. Thanks for the review!
Suspend disbelief is right; I kept expecting Ford's character to have a heart attack. A weak but watchable movie, with a ludicrous final act and lots of inane twists and turns.
Thanks for the review, Herb.
I bought this blindly so I am hoping it proves to be a
somewhat entertaining experience.
One of the First titles to get a SD and HD-DVD release I'll be interested in reading a comparision of the two.
In watching the "Decoded" segment, I get the sense that Loncraine had a difficult time working with Ford and the final product reflected that, IMHO.
Harrison Ford needs to retire. His performance in the film almost ruined it. I cannot imagine him as Indy Jones; I will be an embrassment all around. I'm sorry to be so harsh. His performance in Firewall reminded me of John Wayne's in McQ; a Sr. Citizen trying to keep up with the young men. Otherwise I thought this film was okay.
I watched this film a few days ago.
It was pretty decent until the end. It got quite boring once it
went from a technology caper to a shootout at a remote house.
The only thing that made this film worthwhile for me was
the inclusion of "Chloe" from 24. It caught me by
surprise that she had such a big roll in this film. Unfortunately,
her performance was that of .... Chloe. It's like this actress
wasn't given the opportunity to show more range outside of the
TV show we watch every week.
Not a great film -- but then again, there just aren't any great
films coming out of Hollywood anymore. All sequels or utter crap!
It was ok at best. Halfway through the movie before they say why the have the family?
Interesting to see how new releases like '16 Blocks' and 'Firewall' are selling as cheap as $13.50 due to same day HD release.
Also interesting to see that HD releases are selling for prices similar to typical 2-disc DVD SEs.
Where are we headed? Cheaper SD prices and people expecting more than SD for $25.
