I am having trouble finding information on the panasonic DVD-cp72 and if it contains the faroudja chip. I know the RP82 does, but not sure if the 5 disc CD72 contain it? Does anyone know if it does or not? If it does I will get the CP&@ for x-mas , but if not I will get the RP82. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Mike,

It has the same Faroudja chip as the RP82, as well as the same mpeg decoder chip.

The main differences are that the RP82 has both optical and coax digital audio outs, while the the CP72 only has optical, and the RP82 has an enhanced mode for regular audio CDs.

Video performance is identical between the 2 units.
