Kelly, check out AXIOM
They are great speakers, I have auditioned the Epic 80 system (which is their top of the line) and it sounds excellent! I will be purchasing this setup very soon.
I know you won't be able to audition them, but if you check out their site and read the reviews, I know you'll be impressed http://www.axiomaudio.com. They have a 30 day money back guarantee, no questions asked.
The Epic 80 system costs US$2390 (including shipping)but you could get it without the sub for less.

Have fun with your search

Although no one seems to appreciate this speaker manufacturer on this forum, I have the M&K750THXSelect system WITH the THXSelect sub, and I got it for just under $2,500 (retails for $2,670).

M&K is used at many professional sound-mixing facilities, and I believe one of the administrators has a brother who can vouch for the 750 system as I can - excellent, and probably unbeatable for the price.

I suppose M&K is not mentioned as much because very few retailers sell them. But I listened to quite a few speaker systems before ultimately purchasing the 750 system, and none could touch it.

I'll agree with Sam on this one: M & K!!!!
They are VERY tough to beat in a home theater environment....at ANY price.
If you go to Link Removed you can see that there are in fact, many, many, mixing studios that swear by them. (As Sam said above)
Here are a couple that you just may recognize:
(I find it very interesting that BOTH Dolby and DTS use them! Seems like it's the only thing they agree on!!)

Since Bob mentioned ACI and you live in Toccoa my Dad might let you stop by his place in Dillard and hear his 3 ACI Emeralds that I built for him.

My suggestion is to leave both your checkbook and your credit cards at home. Don't commit yourself to anything until you've had 24 hours to think about it.

With your budget, you owe it to yourself to seek out a decent pair of used PSB Stratus Gold i's. I've seen them on Ebay, Audiogon, and elsewhere for anywhere between $1100-1400. I picked up an awesome used pair (in cherry) for $1200, then bought the matching C6i center channel (quasi-new) for $450.00 and a pair of Energy Veritas 2.0 dipole-bipole surrounds for $1000 list(have 18 months to pay 'em off from Good Guys :) ). For $2650, it's tough to top my set-up. Happy Hunting! JH

You certainly have a lot of great suggestions. As for me, I would also like to vote for consideration of the Klipsch Reference series for home theater. As for a sub, I heard great things about the Hsu and, in fact, just ordered one online tonight to audition. By the way, my recommendation for Klipsch is very personal. I haven't even heard all of the other speakers, so they might well be better choices for you. The thing I do is listen to a lot of speakers in shops, but never buy until I come home to places like this to get the opinions of others to digest. Then, I go back to the shops several times, each time listening more carefully as I narrow the field. Finally, I check out internet prices and use them as a negotiating tool to get a better price. Good luck and enjoy the process. Buying new equipment for me is an exhilarating experience. I just love doing it.

Well, I will throw my 2 cents in here...

for $2500 you can find some Nice speaker setups. But if you have not tried them yet, check out the NEW Polk LSI line...

You owe it to yourself to check them out and you will be surprised...

Another vote for Definitive Technology.
I just bought:
BP2006TL (The smallest powered tower the offer)
CLR2002
BP2X (Dipole surrounds)
I got out the door, tax and all, for a tad over $2k
If you want to spend the other $500, consider upgrading the towers to BP2004TL's or the surrounds to BPX's. Each option should keep you within your budget (unlike other reccomendations).
