^ More reasons not to use Amazon. The preorder part that is strange is that on the preorders, the item will come into stock at Amazon on the release date but then not ship. My order is delayed but the item is in stock but now selling at a higher price. If you go to the Twilight (the Newman film) Blu-ray product page, it shows it is in stock with Amazon and ready to ship. However, my order from early December, is not being shipped and shows an estimated delivery date in February. Now, yes, sometimes they will give an estimated delivery date and the product will arrive before that delayed date, but often, it seems for me, all on orders where I seem to have ordered at a fairly low or excellent price...these orders end up cancelled.
I ordered the film The Counterfeit Traitor 4 times on Amazon. The first three times they cancelled the order. I did preorder it, and they cancelled. I ordered again, at a higher sale price, cancelled. I ordered again because the item showed in stock through Amazon, and oddly that order was immediately cancelled. In a back and forth with customer service through the chat feature I got the repetitive response that Amazon was unable to provide the product and that it could be ordered from one of the other vendors on Amazon...of course without free shipping and without the lowest price.
I had quite the back and forth with them on Pearl. Mainly because I saw the list of cancelled orders in my order history and the similarities between them. After they cancelled Pearl on the preorder, it went on sale in November again for Black Friday. So, I ordered again at that sale price. The order showed delayed a couple times finally ending up with an estimated delivery date in March of 2023. Then, they just cancelled it. It was back in stock through Amazon the day after the cancellation. I contacted them about the cancelled order, asked if because they just cancelled my order could they ship me the item at the sale price I had purchased it for. Answer: No, that was a special Black Friday price that was no longer available but they told me I was welcome to reorder at $19.99 and I would have it within two days.
I mean to me it looks like they are intentionally not shipping orders purchased at lower price points, providing the product to people who order at higher price points, and then claiming this weird "It is not in stock at a warehouse near you." thing which I have only heard from them over these last few months.
Someone, I spoke with at Christmas told me you have to watch Amazon now because they are inflating prices and that you do have a better chance to receive your item if you order at a higher price point. He seemed to feel they started doing this in October as part of their holiday sales plan.
I have no idea, but I never have had Amazon cancel orders like this before but in the last, I guess, 6 months, and a lot in the last 3, it seems a regular thing.
