After hearing how the Tumults are so distortion free all the way up to the point of damaging them, my question is:

If I am going to use a PLX 3402 on a pair of Tumults (1100 watts to each one), will the clip limiters built in the amp protect me from hurting the drivers? They are going to be in 2.5 ft^3 (net volume) sealed enclosures.

Should I even use the clip limiters, or just watch for the red lights on the amp?

Don't want to hurt them. . . .

Thanks!!
Brian

Brian,
If you don't exceed the rated power for the driver, excursion for your given enclosure, and dont clip the amplifier, you should be fine. Just start off slow and set it up properly and you'll be a happy camper.

Just remember that Brian B fried one coil with an amp that put out 2500watts to 1 driver. I think you will be fine.

What Kyle said! :)

And while I'm not proud of frying the VC, there's something special about knowing you're the first one to fry a Tumult! :)
