Long story short: Moving to Hong Kong for 2 years. Have a US PS3 and want to take it. Will I be able to hook it up to a Hong Kong tv (plasma or LCD)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it should work just fine in Hong Kong. Almost all televisions and Flat Panel displays solcd in Asia are multi system and are capable of playing back signals from VHS/VCD/DVD/BR etc. from anywhere in the world.

Before the release of the PS3 in the US I know a lot of people were importing them in from Hong Kong with fairly good success. I'd imagine that the reverse would also be true.

Thanks for the replies. It does appear that the PS3 is "Dual Voltage" so I would just need an adapter in Hong Kong to play it.

When I asked a guy working at Sony Style whether I could play it on a Hong Kong tv he told me that I couldn't and that I would have to buy a Hong Kong PS3. I'm not sure he knew what he was talking about though. Would a tv in HK not accept an HDMI or Component feed from a US PS3? I didn't think things like this, inputs, were "region specific" as far as I know.

Also, I can't wait for March 31....Casino Royale on Blu-Ray!

Even if the PS3 was not dual voltage it would not be an issue since a simple voltage converter would take care of that.

As for the response from the guy at 'Sony Style', he does not know his a.. from.... Let's just say he is misinformed. I am quite sure that till date the industry has not come up with region specific inputs or connectors, although I suggest we don't give any ideas to the a/v industry because there are quite a few studios and electonics companies that would jump at the idea if only they could figure out the technicalities.
