I turned 15 yesterday Anyone got me beat?
Nope, I'm 16. Good to see I'm not the only one.
My VCR's almost 16, and I've got a CED videodisc player that's 20! My oldest Beta tape is 25 years old.
I remember when VCRs were brand-new and only "rich people" had them.
Guess I'm going to continue the order of the thread, I'm 17 .
18 for a little over a week
Actual age: 23
Maturity age(according to fiance): 12
Let's see. I can vote, buy alcohol, rent a car, buy pornography and in a few short years, run for President.
You guys have few real financial responsibilities and can make out with high school chicks.
I'm 19, and currently making out with a (hot) highschool chick.
(Well not RIGHT NOW, but you get the idea)
23 but thats no where close to the youngest
OMG, my tape deck and record player are 19 years old! I've got gear older than some of the members here...
This thread (at the time I clicked on it) was right above this thread: "My baby girl was born yesterday!" So I think you've all been beaten by Andrews daughter.
My CD player is 13...
I have a 23-year-old RGR Model 4B transistor stereo preamplifier packed away in a closet. My sister still has the receiver from my first-ever true audio system, which I bought new: a 1970 Kenwood KR-77 (20 watts per channel, both channels driven, from 50 Hz to 15 kHz at 1.5-percent THD—for $239 in 1970 U.S. currency). The thing still runs. (My other components in that system: a pair of British Goodmans-Elite G-44 speakers, a Garrard SLX-2 record changer factory-equipped with a Pickering cartridge tracking at a whopping 3 grams, and with anti-skating.)
I saw The Beatles live and in person.
Okay, I own the first issue of Famous Monsters of Filmland which is nearly as old as Jack Briggs!!!
I saw '2001 A Space Odyssey' at the cinema, when it was only 5 years old!!
ps. I'm only 480 months old, just a big kid really.
Do you have any idea how much Issue #1 of Forry Ackerman's Famous Monsters of Filmland is, Steve? Is it in mint condition? Is the red background on the cover still red and not faded, and is the Frankenstein's monster mask that man is wearing still a sickly green? Is his woman companion's lipstick still apparent? Send me a PM, Steve. I'll give you $25 for that copy, easy!
(My collection started with Issue #7, and ran complete from there until the early '70s. I also had complete runs of Castle of Frankenstein, Mad Monsters, Horror Monsters, Monster World, and other monster-movie mags.)
Yeah and you youngsters stay clear of the testy thread, it's X rated for nudity, profanity and insanity, yep it's true we are actually naked when we type those posts...
Jack the FM#1 cover was quite red last time I saw it, it's in a plastic folder, I have to check it again, I'm pretty sure I have most of the first 50-60 issues in reasonably good condition, I also have many CoF issues, all pretty rare now, I'll send you a PM when I have a good look at them.
Who was the youngest when they joined HTF? I was 15 years and 3 days old when I joined, though I should be considered and honorary member from before that due to the Paloozas.
