For those of us living in the US but have the ability to play DVDs from other regions, what are the best places to buy DVDs?

There is a thread on this topic at that other forum...

    http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=167378

I use amazon uk, cdwow, dddhouse, blackstar, hmv and a couple of others. cdwow tends to be cheaper, but they don't have many things that I look for. Amazon doesn't charge VAT to US customers.

For a USA based source of Asian DVDs try

    http://www.dvdasian.com

They provide excellent service and generally ship same day as order. They are a particularly good source for Korean releases.

For a good Hong Kong source, try http://dddhouse.com

For Japanese DVDs, Amazon Japan is rather expensive but offer excellent service.

There are likely other good sources, but these are the ones I use.

    I'll third DDDHouse.

Granted shipping can be slow (10-14 days to the East Coast) the prices can't be beat.

While searching for Ingmar Bergman DVDs recently, I stumbled across Benson's World UK. I haven't tried them yet, but their prices are much better than any other place I've found.

Bensonsworld does NOT deduct the tax from their price, even though as an non-EU resident you would not have to pay it. Amazon.co.uk does, so in reality you're getting a 15% discount off the listed price. Once you factor that in, IMHO Amazon.co.uk is the cheapest source of UK R2 discs -- "cheap" being relative since the pound appreciated.. [IMG]

I didn't know that. Benson still seems cheaper, at least for the stuff I'm looking for.

    Bensn Amazn Title
    16.99 16.99 Fanny and Alexander
09.50 13.59 From the Life of Marionettes
    12.99 13.59 The Magician
    12.99 13.59 Scenes from a Marriage
    09.50 13.59 Smiles of a Summer Night
    09.50 13.59 Summer with Monika
    12.99 13.59 To Joy
    12.99 13.59 The Virgin Spring
    ----- -----
    97.45 112.12

In fact, I just totalled it up at each site, and with shipping it comes to 107.45 vs 122.29. Of course, I have no idea how reliable Benson is.

    I always shop at either:

    cd-wow.com
    yesasia.com
    cdjapan.co.jp

    for region 2, 3 & 4 DVD's.
