I doubt that you would ever see a full season (defined as 12 or more eps) released this way (the "upfront" costs would just be too much in most cases); but I definitely think a 4-to-6 hour mini-series directly released to DVD could be viable.

I also except that the big numbers for "The 4400" especially on a non-genre network, will translate into more Sci-Fi on television in the future.

I think Andromeda is good, And Lexx was a really cool show and series or movies with original ideas.
