SANTA MONICA, CA (March 21, 2022) – Legendary action-adventure director Roland Emmerich returns when Moonfall arrives on Digital April 1 and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray and Digital), Blu-ray Combo Pack (plus DVD and Digital), DVD, and On Demand April 26 from Lionsgate. From director Roland Emmerich (Midway, Independence Day franchise) and writers Roland Emmerich, Harald Kloser & Spenser Cohen, the film stars Academy Award®winner Halle Berry (Monsters Ball, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum) , Patrick Wilson (Midway, The Conjuring franchise) , John Bradley (TV’s “Game of Thrones,” “Marry Me”), Michael Peña (TV’s “Narcos,” Fantasy Island), Charlie Plummer (Lean on Pete, Spontaneous), Kelly Yu (TV’s “Lost Promise”), Eme Ikwuakor (TV’s “On My Block,” “Inhumans”), Carolina Bartczak (TV’s upcoming “Painkiller”), and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games franchise, TV’s “The Undoing”).

In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award® winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Moonfall 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $42.99, $39.99, and $29.96, respectively.

I've enjoyed all of the Roland Emmerich films I've watched for what they are but this one takes preposterous to a whole new level. And it wasn't even fun. I just think films like this would probably work better as a miniseries. They cram way too much and attempt to tie everything up in 90 minutes and that just doesn't work for a story like this.

Luis, do you think studio "focus groups" effect the final product?

I think focus groups are a cop out and their existence could potentially - and ultimately - ruin a good film. It's like the studio has zero faith in the film so they create these groups as insurance to "shore up" the final product. Ultimately the groups should receive a "Producer" credit since they influenced what was released.
