In the same situation, I'd probably go with Velvia. Along with some B&W, like Sam said. You might even experiment with pushing the Velvia to 100 if you really want to go extreme, but this is best if you have two bodies so you can shoot un-pushed along with it.

Just found this thread - hopefully not too late for you. I much prefer Velvia, although these days I use the 100 speed variety. (Just "100", not "100F", which has a different color balance) I don't miss the 50 speed at all, especially with need to compensate for reciprocity failure on exposures of 4 seconds and up.
I tried the Kodak flavor once - never again. Very pronounced grain, and wildly oversaturated blues.
