Use DISH dish with Directv service?? (1 Viewer)

Silly question, probably asked before but I never had any need to read this secton before.
My father moved into an older house where the previous owner left a DISH network dish on the roof. My father has Directv service.
So can he use the existing dish after repointing it OR do I have to go up there to switch dishes??

If it's a Dish300 (18" dish), then just point it at the D* sat. If it's a Dish500, with the right LNB's you can make it work but it will be easier to use a D* dish.
