Well, similar to the 60s-90s threads. :)

Another very favourite decade for me (after 80s and 90s), with many historical epics and adventure films.

What's your list?

I wrote much more originally, but thought to restrict it to 10 absolute favourites (all these, with the exception of Magnificent Obsession, are films i first watched in my childhood, that's why they hold a special place in my heart):

Ivanhoe (1952)

Knights of the Round Table (1953)

20.000 leagues under the Sea (1954)

Magnificent Obsession (1954) (looking forward to a Criterion upgrade)

The Naked Jungle (1954)

Ulisse (1954)

Summertime (1955) (looking forward to a Criterion upgrade)

Anastasia (1956)

Around the World in 80 days (1956)

Raintree County (1957)

Heaven Knows Mr. Allison is readily available on blu ray via Twilight Time. You could have picked it up in their recent sale.

Maybe we could even consider going year by year? It's actually quite impressive the number of classics from the 1950s now are on blu-ray in good releases. But of course so many worthy films from this decade still remain unreleased. Wikipedia has a good reference page for Hollywood releases year by year. Here's their list for 1950:

Didn't we have a fifties list? Anyway, I love lists, & the fifties is my second favourite movie decade (after the sixties). All those westerns, epics, musicals, swashbucklers & sci-fi films, & not forgetting all those British b/w war & comedy films. My very colourful list (only one b/w):

Scaramouche 1952
Bend Of The River 1952
Brigadoon 1954
Land Of The Pharaohs 1955
Bad Day At Black Rock 1955
This Island Earth 1955
Helen Of Troy 1956
The Vikings 1958
Dunkirk 1958
Li'l Abner 1959.

Indeed we had one, and quite recent too: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/topic/334566-your-favorite-10-films-from-the-1950s-not-yet-on-blu/

I'll re-post my top ten list from there:

The Flame and the Arrow (Tourneur, 1950)
The Asphalt Jungle (Huston, 1950)
The Big Sky (Hawks, 1952)
The Naked Spur (Mann, 1953)
The Barefoot Contessa (Mankiewicz, 1954)
Moonfleet (Lang, 1955)
Seven Men From Now (Boetticher, 1956)
Run of the Arrow (Fuller, 1957)
Party Girl (Ray, 1958)
The Last Hurrah (Ford, 1958)

Being a huge western fan, the Fifties is my favourite decade. But of course there are so many titles outside the genre that I hope will get a proper blu release in the future.

Just to mention a few more titles in no specific order:
Some Came Running
Band of Angels
The Naked and the Dead
The Far Country
The Last Wagon
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
No Name on the Bullet
Bad Day at Black Rock
Tarantula
Wind Across the Everglades
While the City Sleeps
Beyond A Reasonable Doubt
