When we have flea issues (very rare), I get Frontline from the vet. The issue normally goes away within a week. My cats are strictly indoor so fleas are not a huge problem.

I wasn't kidding about trying all means available. This was summertime 2013 I had it bad. Must have got them from my friends cat or my dads cat that are both outdoor cats as no reason why an indoor cat should have fleas.

Flea Trap set down and lots dived in and drowned. I must have counted nearly 50 fleas, god damn it.

Reminds me to buy some new hair spray as its cheap and does the trick but it frigging smells and it sets off the smoke detector.

This flea around at my dads taken December 2013. I can spot these fuckers with the naked eye. My dad said. "Its not a flea, my cat doesn't have fleas" I took a picture with text mode up close and then zoomed on it and showed my dad it was so a flea. I rest my case.

My cats have always been indoor but there are carriers that might introduce fleas to your cat clan. For one, if you ever pick up any carpetted cat furniture off craigslist, or whatever, I'd quaranteen it first. I believe that my fleas either came as carriers on a cat scratching post or they had fleas when I adopted them from a friend. So indoor cats aren't immune from outdoor pests and then there is the issue with mice. If any of your cats are mousers and you get mice in the basement or whatever, they could get diseases from them.

I haven't had a flea problem since but I am now ever vigilant with it. Fleas suck and if you've ever seen a cat or dog with a nasty case of fleas, you'd cringe at the sight of one...

Believe me I know the meaning of the word CRINGE when I saw them cat as kitten I had to wait 4 weeks or so before he can have his booster shots. I was washing him every day to get as rid of many as possible I was so distressed and my cat was as well.

An easy way for an indoor cat to get flees, and how I presume how mine usually get them, are from dogs.

My two dogs are indoor animals, but obviously, they go for walks and go out in the fenced in backyard when necessary.

That's a prime avenue right there for introducing flees into your house. Then it's just a hop, skip, and a jump before they're on your cats.

Once I have the flea issue resolved I'll have to take greater measures to see I don't come into contact with other cats or dogs. Its not fair in my cat.

Flea Trap has caught two so far. That was 2 days ago and not seen any more since? I'll keep the flea trap set down and see how many more want to dive in die. They picked the wrong cat.

Just saw one on my leg and grabbed it and tossed it into the water trap. I timed it. 2 mins it was toast.

Maybe I need wash and vacuum to go over the carpet tiles will as that will drown most its the eggs that needs to be terminated. Maybe I'll miniaturize The Terminator and program the CPU to terminate all fleas within the carpet. :D Sorted.

i think you should get some toothpicks and post some dead fleas on the toothpicks and put them around your house as a warning to the other fleas...

Jay

P.S. I used to walk around in white socks and collect them off the carpet after a while. It's actually a good test to see how well the vacuuming is going..

Oh no, on your socks.

I only have t-shirt underpants and slippers on and if I see one flea on my leg that I sense easily, it will end up in the flea trap.

Toothpicks not a bad idea don't tempt me.

Carpetting which my house in NJ had at the time my cats had fleas is great breeding grounds for fleas and dust and mites and anything nasty that likes to live in a house... Its probably one reason why hardwood floors is quite the rage these days in the real estate market...

I think fleas don't only bite cats too.. they can't really live on us as we're colder but doesn't stop them from trying...

From Wikipedia:
Humans can be bitten, though a long-term population of cat fleas cannot be sustained and infest people. However, if the female flea is allowed to feed for twelve consecutive hours on a human, it can lay viable eggs.[2]

Dog-guy reporting in again...

I had a horrible time a couple of months ago when one my dogs came down with some fleas. This is always an unusual circumstance for us because they are generally house dogs who don't interact much with other animals.

The dog was sleeping at the end of the bed one night and my feet had kicked out from under the covers and I woke up with a three inch by three inch area on my ankle that was screaming red and itchy! I'm still feeling the effect of that.

We went through the normal steps of spraying the carpets and furniture and washing all the bedding ,etc. And have had no return issues.

I am the only collateral damage.
