I'm finally looking into getting a new TV. I'd like to get something in the 42-55" range. Would prefer a LCD/Plasma "thin" tv. I would also like to keep my budget around $2500. Is this possible, what do you all recommend?

In that size, and within your budget, with a 1080p resolution, will probably only be available in a RP/LCD display.

CEDIA 2006 is next week in Denver and I would imagine you'll see official unveiling of a lot of new 1080p capable sets from a lot of manufacturers at that time. By October the field should be a lot wider than it is now. I would suspect that there might even be a few models that might approach your price range. Right now there's a Spectre and a Westinghouse (Costco/Amazon type sets) that appear to be in that category but I don't know too much about performance/reliability).

Stay tuned....
