Subwoofer noise (1 Viewer)

Awhile back I noticed that when I shut off my receiver, the subwoofer still made noise (almost a muffled slight rumble.) I thought it might be the cable, so I recently purchased a new Monster cable and it still does it. What might be causing this? Whenever I watch anything with hardly any bass, it doesn't make any noise at all...it sounds like it is off....

sounds like the amplifier is not completly cutting off. so you could be hearing noise in the amp being amplified. do you have the gain all the way up? if possible, trying turning the gain of the sub down, if that works then turn the sub level up on your receiver to compensate.

another thing you can try which i used to do with a cheap sub i had, is if your receiver has power outlets on it try plugging your sub into that, so when you turn off your receiver it will completly shut down the sub.
