Hi everyone,

When I turn on a ceiling fan, my speakers make a popping sound. I had an electrician install another outlet because I thought that was the problem. It still didn't fix it.

I've now been told it is RFI. Is there any way to fix this?

Is the new outlet on a different circuit than the fan? Does it pop the whole time it's on? Try buying a line conditioner.

That happened to me, too. I think it's because when you turn the ceiling fan on it generates a lot of power line noise (or, perhaps, draws a lot of current and drops the voltage momentarily) which causes the amplifier to burp a little bit. I'd just move one of the two items to a different circuit and see if it goes away.

Hi guys,

I had them wire the new outlet directly to the electrical box and it still does it. The fan uses a variable speed switch if this makes a difference. Any ideas?
