I think I need to buy some speakers stands to best postion my system.

What should I look for in stands? Should they be different for fronts and rears?

Thanks

Here are some things to look for:

1. Height: The tweeters in the front speakers should be at the same height as the center speaker's. And, the surrounds should be a little above ear level when you are seated.

2. Stability, especially if there are children or pets running around. A very heavy base.

3. Attachment: Make sure you know how the speakers are going to be attached.

4. Appearance. Some are very cool looking, some are very industrial.

I'll add two to Marcs list:

5. If they are going to be placed over carpet I would look for ones that had spikes.

6. Make sure there is a way to run the speakers wires so the are hidden from sight. You can have great sounding speakers and the coolest looking stands, but if you see wire hanging/running all over it looks sloppy.

yeah i bought the ones that have a hollow post so you can run speaker wire through them. as i live in an apt. i had to run cable under the carpet and in through these posts. it looks really clean.
