Looking for a new HT Receiver and am wondering if it is important to have hdmi inputs/outputs in the receiver. Do not plan on buying a hdtv for a few years.

If you don't have any devices that can use them, then it would seem to me that it would be useless to you.
That leaves us, er, you, to spend $ on other useful features. What sort of AVR are you looking for? What's most important to you in terms of performance?
