For the first time I've been trying to build something at a higher level than a home in a box. Here is my initial thoughts and comments/suggestions are very welcome. - 2 Polk Audio TSi500 Floorstanding Speaker - 1 Polk Audio CS20 Center Channel Speaker - 2 Polk Audio TSi200 Bookshelf Speakers - 1 Polk DSW PRO 550WI Subwoofer Receiver - not decided yet. Alternatives are: - Onkyo TX-NR609 - 700W 7.2-Ch. THX Certified 3D Pass Through A/V Home Network Receiver or - Denon AVR1912 - 875W 7.1-Ch. 3D Pass Through A/V Home Theater Receiver Thanks.

Polk make great speakers. They make average subs. A quick check shows that sub going for around $500. Check out alternatives from: SVS - www.svsound.com Elemental Designs www.edesignaudio.com Lava - www.lavasubs.com Hsu - www.hsuresearch.com Emotiva - www.emotiva.com Almost any one of these at the same price point as the Polk will play lower and cleaner.

Both the Onkyo or Denon are great choices. Get the one that has the features you need (inputs, docks, networking, etc). Ignore the watts and THX. Both are pretty much meaningless in this comparison. If both meet you needs and are in your budget, go with the Denon. It has a much better version of Audyssey (the room auto setup and EQ program).
