Pioneer receiver/player question (1 Viewer)

I have a Pioneer home theater HTD510 that has the receiver and 5 disc player in one unit. The dvd player crapped out and rather than paying to have it fixed, I figured that since the unit has a digital in (coaxial) input that I could hook up an inexpensive dvd/cd player and still get the use of the home theater receiver. Is this thinking correct? Or will their be compatibility issues? Is there any issues I need to consider?

are you running the video off the new dvd player directly to your TV? if so this should not be a problem at all, just make sure you switch the receiver to the correct input to get the sound and you should be ok
