This series is one that I found to be spooky....until the opening titles ended. What a great sequence with sinister music by Johnny Williams. It actually looks like Land of the Giants was inspired by the titles. This show wound up running in the overnights on, I think, the Sci-Fi Channel under "Crisis" and "Suspense Theater." Never saw "Kraft" in the name except in battered 16mm prints.

Some good episodes in there, though. Appreciate the attention you've giving this one.

Scott thank you. I really love this series. Randall and I were commiserating when the YouTube account Executive Decision was recently terminated. The copyright cops as I call them are still very much alive. I don’t even want to look back and see how many other shows I posted along with Kraft are now showing this.

This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.

The Defenders was another that comes to mind. Fortunately I saw the hand-writing on the wall and downloaded most everything I post. The Kraft Suspense Theatre aka “Crisis” aka "Suspense Theater” episodes uploaded by Executive Decision were the best prints we had ever seen. I love the theme too!

Hondo
"Hondo and the Mad Dog" (S1E8)

Hopefully to soften Neal's assessment that I'm a tough nut to crack, I'm putting forth this series--which lasted about 10 minutes in the vast cosmos of TV history. No doubt somebody on this thread already tagged Hondo as among the most obscure of obscurities, so forgive me if I'm treading over well-worn ground. It stars Ralph Taeger (who?) as an ex-Confederate army officer which, along with his dog Sam, roams around the West as a quasi Johnny Yuma type--aimless but well meaning.
Hondo had originally hoped to build a career as a saddle soap salesman, but at the time the soap industry was still in its infancy. Instead, he focuses his efforts on convincing the Army and the Indians to make nice with one another, possibly by hosting prairie BBQ parties and ballroom dancing.

In this episode, Hondo is taking a lunch break of Osso Bucco with an amusing Sauvignon while Sam runs off chasing a jack rabbit--which is high on a dog's list of acceptable diversions. Unfortunately, the dog witnesses Army Corporal Judd Barton (James MacArthur) stab and kill his fellow soldier over a gambling debt. Judd, having the intellectual content of a horseshoe, actually believes Sam will tattle on him. Judd's seen enough Rin Tin Tin and Lassie reruns to know canines are well above his pay grade in smarts.

Judd discusses gambling debts, Sam's new denture implants; The results of too many chili dogs at lunch

Meanwhile, Hondo and Sam return to the fort where F Troop is stationed. Sam immediately recognizes Judd as a bad guy and attacks him like a pound of ground chuck. Judd is incensed and labels Sam as rabid and must be destroyed. As a side note, the Camp Captain is beginning to question why Judd's companion has not yet returned. Judd sees Sam as a convenient excuse as to explain his partner's disappearance. When in doubt, always blame the dog--especially after a boy in camp is attacked. The fort's inhabitants are all in favor of putting Sam down before anyone else gets chewed--without realizing it's actually a wild wolf wandering the premises. Hondo knows it wasn't Sam who attacked the lad and tries mightily to keep the mob from sending his pet to the great Alpo bowl in the sky.

Hondo's one ally is storekeeper Angie (Kathie Browne), who appears to have borrowed one of Dolly Parton's fluffiest wigs and tightest fitting blouses. it's nice to have such a pretty thing among a gaggle of cavalry soldiers who bathe about as often as Nebraska has Tsunamis. In the end, Sam redeems himself by cornering the nasty wolf as well as uncovering Judd's murder victim. His reward? Hondo's Osso Bucco bone from lunch.

Holy eyeopeners! Season 3 Episode 17 actually has a location shoot that runs a few minutes. The first few seasons are almost all in studio - did they venture outside more in later seasons to keep up with competitors like Highway Patrol?

LOL, still half asleep first thing I thought was am I in the wrong thread? Then I thought maybe Russ pulled a Marv and posted this here by mistake?

Good one and thank you! Certainly far superior to any episode from the Hondo series itself which btw has never been posted nor even mentioned here. I bought it back in 2018 watched a couple episodes and it’s been gathering cat dander ever since.

Ironic that you popped in here today of all days with a fine commentary because this morning as I was detailing the further adventures of Sgt. Friday from 1967, I was thinking boy is that series just full of parody content. I see you’ve done Adam-12. Perhaps Dragnet isn’t too far behind.
