EL CID and FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE. I know there were some foreign blu rays of these but from most reviews the quality is poor.
While I don't have it anymore, I recall the laserdisc of ROMAN EMPIRE having a beautiful transfer. Even with newer tech, hard to imagine it being worse.

Waited to see if one of my favorites would show up. Didn't see it so I would like to see an HD, widescreen version of Away All Boats. At this point I'd even settle for an iTunes digital version, but no luck there either. Still have the Goodtimes pan&scan DVD which I guess will have to do. I recall the "Kino-Lorber Insider" remarking a while ago that they had "kicked the tires" on that title and another and decided not to release them. Didn't want to incur the wrath of the "gods" so refrained from asking what that meant. Possibly the film elements were not usable. Looking at what's been released since, I don't have a clue. I do understand that's not my call to make on what they choose to release. I just vote with my dollars.

Ruggles Of Red Gap was released on Blu-ray disc in the U.K. by Eureka/Masters of Cinema. Sitting Pretty was released on Blu-ray disc by Fox. I received my copy in April 2017, pretty much exactly five years ago.

Sitting Pretty was, unfortunately, one of the four titles Fox released on BD-R under their Cinema Archives banner. All went OOP pretty quickly. A year ago (almost exactly) Oldies.com was offering them; I ordered them, and within four days, they cancelled my order saying they were unavailable. I haven't looked for them on eBay, but I imagine that if anyone has them, they're asking the moon for 'em.

For the record, the other three were Sentimental Journey, Coney Island, and Woman's World.

what are some movies that you want a modern release that you don't think will ever get one?
I don't hold out much hope for many RKO titles. Here are several I'd like to see on BD but I don't expect it to happen.

Alice Adams
Bachelor Mother
The Devil and Daniel Webster
The Ex-Mrs. Bradford
Fifth Avenue Girl
In Name Only
Little Women (1933)
Mr. Lucky
My Favorite Wife
Star of Midnight
Tall in the Saddle
Vivacious Lady

I thought I read somewhere that some work was completed on The Devil and Daniel Webster. If that’s true then I expect Criterion to release a Blu-ray.

High Risk. An adventure film with a good cast (James Brolin, Bruce Davison, Lindsay Wagner, Cleavon Little, Anthony Quinn, James Coburn, Ernest Borgnine). As far as I know, this has never gotten a proper DVD release (it has gotten cropped monstrosities through lousy video companies).
Seconded, still have a good memory of seeing that at the theater, but every time I've ever tried rewatching, the look of the thing just unravels the experience. Felt it could have been called HOW TO BEAT THE HIGH COST OF LIVING PT 2.

Oh, my choice in this category is always LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR. I know there has to be a fairly high rez master someplace, because when I signed up for netflix about 12 years back, it was specifically because they had it streaming, and it looked very good. They didn't have it again after that period, which is just one of many reasons why I don't still have netflix for discs or for streaming.

And I'll throw another Richard Brooks into the mix, WRONG IS RIGHT. It is a mess of a movie, but a very compelling mess, and quite entertaining as well as prescient.

This has streamed in HD free from time to time, so keep an eye open!

The version of True Lies that has been played on cable TV over the years comes from an old and not so great video master. I don't know if the same source is being used for streaming.

One I'd really like to see is Ash Wednesday with Elizabeth Taylor and Henry Fonda, which didn't even make it to DVD. Several years ago, Olive, who was releasing Paramount films at the time, told me that there was a rights issue that was holding up a release. I think it may have to do with the Ray Charles soundtrack. I know it's sacrilege to some, but I'd be willing to forgo the wonderful Ray Charles songs to get this on Blu-ray.

ha~~~ i guess we'll have to European Amazon sites more often for “refreshing” releases more often... so far there are few worthy mentions like 12 Strong and Death Wish(Bruce Willis) that comes in 2K+4K transitional packs, Turbine Germany releases of Universal Catalogue titles with Auro3D and Atmos remixes “Audio Experience” packs with redone visuals... TrueLies being a Universal International distribution title... ...good chance that we could get “non Director approved” release, unless DisneyFoxStudios intercept that release with “Studio Approved” edition.

Fine drama with Sinatra, Crain & Gaynor in fine form. Sinatra croons Oscar winner All the Way among others. Several versions of the Oscar winning song from the film are available in the boxed set Sinatra in Hollywood. The VistaVision film should yield a nice blu-ray of a film never released on DVD or blu-ray. Of course, 4K would be nice.
